Here and There

coat: Zara (last season) | Bracelets c/o Poshlocket | Sunglasses: H&M (old, similar

1. This Zara coat that I am wearing has been my best clothing purchase to date. It was more than I usually spend on any one item, but dang was it worth it. I have worn it hundreds of times since I bought it...basically almost every time I go outside, which is a lot since it has been cold every day since the purchase date, which I think was last fall. That fact makes me a little upset. It will probably be the only coat I dont sell or burn upon my move back to Los Angeles.

2. I am super mad at myself that I pre-judged Perks of Being a Wallflower and didn't read the book before I watched the film. After last weeks post everyone was like "You should read the book!"  I usually always read the book before watching the film, but I have a hard time reading a book after watching the film. This was an epic fail on my part. Don't make the same mistake I did, guys.

3. This was one of the most beautiful and touching things I have read about in awhile.

4. One of the funniest Bachelor recaps I have ever read. (originally found it via MM). It is written by a male and I laughed out loud a lot.  One of my fav lines:
"'I CAN’T CONTROL MY EYEBROW. I CANNOT CONTROL MY EYEBROW. I CANNOT CONTROL MY FACE' and all of those statements are false, because it’s your face, and some would argue that faces are the most controllable."

5. LOVED this article written by the Man Repeller on Blogging, fashion, and our generation.

5. Recent conversations I had with S:

Me: I am so excited to have a trader joes and a proper big Whole Foods with cranberry tuna back in my life soon. Along with all of the organic fresh produce.
S: It's pronounced prawjuice. (produce)
Me: Don't even get me started on that again. You can say it that way, but no one will know what you are talking about.
S: But that is the correct way to pronounce it
Me: There is NO J in Produce so why would it have a J sound?
S: It's like in tennis, when the game is at 40-40 and one player needs to get two consecutive points to win...it's called a juice...
Me: Really? Pretty sure that is a DEUCE. Again, there is no J in the spelling of that word.
S: Well tennis originates here so pretty sure we are right in the pronunciation.
Me: You are definitely incorrect.
S: Well what about Django? You pronounce it "Jango"
Me: BECAUSE THERE IS A J. I love you, but I can't have this conversation anymore.

Me: Do you think if I put our yogurt in the freezer it would turn into frozen yogurt?
S: I don't know, I have never had frozen yogurt
Me: GASP

*Thank you so much for all of your sweet comments on Stephen's birthday post yesterday. His face lit up reading each one. Thank you.

  1. I seriously LOVE reading your conversations. I can't wait to see them once you're both in the States ... I'm sure it'll be fantastic! :)

(oh, and I almost always read books before I see the movie, so I have a lot of books to read before I can catch up on movies - Perks of Being a Wallflower, Silver Linings Playbook, Life of Pi, etc)

  2. Am I bad a person for not loving Perks of Being a Wallflower? I mean it was good, but I didn't think it was great... *covers head*

Also, I live for your conversations. I kinda tweak them a little though - in my head, Stephen ends every sentence with 'pet' because he can.

  4. I love when you post the conversations with Stephen (also, belated Happy birthday or Feliz cumple as we say in Spain, to him!). And I loved The Perks of Being a Wallflower - book and movie, but don't worry, we've all made the mistake once or twice about seeing the movie first. Also, that Bachelor recap is hilarious.

  5. haha i love your conversations posts - they always make me smile.
Also, if you put yogurt in the freezer, it turns into a creamy popsicle (not quite frozen yogurt/ice cream but still delicious)

  7. Ahh! I missed the birthday post! Pass along some happy belated birthday wishes anyway. :)

And this particular convo sort of reminds me of one my mom had with her former co-worker who was from England.. She asked him why he said 'herb' with the 'H' pronounced and he replied something about there being an 'H' in the word. Yadayada, I forget some of it then, "do you pronounce 'house' as 'ouse'?" On second thought, maybe it's funnier when my mom tells it..... -_-

  10. Love the Zara coat! I also bought one when I was in New York in September... but unlike you, I haven't been able to wear it because it's so freakin hot here. I'm sort of looking forward to winter so that I can show it off :)

  12. Wow. THank you so much for sharing that gem of a Bach review. I can't remember the last time I laughed out loud reading one blogpost in a long time! HILARIOUS. Myyyy fav line was: " and Tierra walks in the room and says that she never said that, like a kid who audibly farted and then said that they did not." dyingggggg

  14. I made the mistake of watching the first two Harry Potter movies before I started the books. I didn't get what the fuss was about. THEN I read the books. So basically we've all been there.

Watched Perks this last weekend. I loved the book and loved the movie. The book is better (of course), but the movie was still so good and stayed really true to the book. I got super emotional.

  15. i am the exact same way with reading books before the movie. i wouldn't see 'le mis' because i wanted to read it first. everyone said it was so long i'd never end up seeing the movie...finished it in less than a month. BAM.

  16. I saw that 'adoption video' you put a link to. That was funny, and really cute too.
That's also funny what you said about putting yogurt in the freezer to turn it into frozen yogurt! I never thought of that.
I haven't seen 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' yet, but I'm waiting for it at my local library. I've never read the book either, but I'm sure it's good.
On a different note, I was reading the 'Story of My Life' blog, and her post today, and I saw that you commented about wishing to be able to write a post like Jenni did. I think you should! I mean, it's your blog, and I don't want to tell you what to write, but I think if you want to write something like that, you should. I for one, would read it. Just letting you know :)

  21. I read that story about the birth announcement last week and thought it was the neatest thing ever.

That's so odd he says it with a 'j', it makes no sense, but I would love to be around the store when he says that to watch people's reactions, because I'm sure they'll be priceless.

  26. Ahh don't be mad about not reading the book first. I try to make that a rule myself but we all break rules. You should still read it though!

Wish Stephen a belated happy birthday from me! And tell him that if I had a hot Irish/Scottish/or British guy in my life I would let him pronounce whatever words he wanted however he wanted simply because THE ACCENT. I'm telling you if my boyfriend doesn't start learning an accent soon things won't be pretty.

  27. I love your conversations- but he is right with the pronunciation of produce. But to save arguments, maybe just go with "organic fresh fruit and veg"?! x

  28. How did I miss your studly Stephen's birthday!!????

To Stephen: HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY!!! You don't know me, but we share the first five letters of our names so I know that means you're awesome. Hope you had/have a great day!

To Megan: Does he also say "chews-day" instead of Tuesday? That one drives me up a freaking wall. There's no "ch" in Tuesday!! But don't tell him I said that. I don't want to ruin his bday week. :)

Did I ever tell you the time I went to Scotland and ordered a side of fudge for my ice cream sundae and they brought me out a plate of vegetables? I was like, "I don't speak funny! You do!"
