I wanted to welcome all the new friends who have started reading this blog over the past few months,
with a giant picture of myself,
and a little about me, fully equipped with links to posts, so you don't have to go trolling through the archives.
I am from Los Angeles, CA
I used to work in the fashion industry,
then I decided to go get my masters in Neuroscience (it seemed like the normal transition),
then I decided to go get my masters in Neuroscience (it seemed like the normal transition),
and now I currently live in Scotland.
I got engaged to an amazing man from N.Ireland on July 4th.
We met while we were both studying at the University of Nottingham in England.
Sometimes I write down our conversations where things often get lost in translation.
Sometimes I write down our conversations where things often get lost in translation.
And lest you think my life has been this perfect
"American girl moves abroad and finds love"
story,
then read this post.
I am a lover of blogging and the community...
I believe this should be a place where women can find support,
I believe this should be a place where women can find support,
and I believe that you can make long lasting friendships here,
friendships that extend far outside the confines of the internet,
and reach real life;
Stephen and I had planned a very large and beautiful wedding in Northern Ireland to take place June 29th,
but had to cancel it.
So if you see the Monogamy Monday posts that came before,
that is what that is about.
So clearly this blog is not void of a little drama,
you are welcome.
Thank goodness I had some engagement photos to bounce back with,
because I think we were all a little traumatized.
Not too long after canceling our big N.Ireland wedding,
on March Second 2013
we got married in Scotland.
The wedding was small and intimate,
and a true reflection of Stephen and I.

We are moving back to SO-CAL this summer,
after what will be months of visa paperwork,
(side eye immigration).
I LOVE my family.
My mom, little brother, and I are extremely close.
And a little crazy.
Our journey, however, has not been easy.
I am a big advocate of love,
hope,

yes to the cheetos.

I really kind of love you. Reading through your old posts that I've already read just made me more how I love your writing. And I love your story. Thank you for not being afraid to share the good with the bad. Oh but how much good there is when you choose to see it :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, sooo glad you're moving back to Socal. Born and raised here, it's kind of, no actually it's really the best.
you are hilarious. this was a great post... and the opening paragraph was perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis was great. I love reading your blog, and I can't wait to see where life takes you! Take care!
ReplyDeleteRe-visiting your blog after a few months away. Glad to see you have a great sense of humor despite recent drama - you deserve the best! And lots of Cheetos... ;)
ReplyDeleteBecause I am a great stalk, er, blog reader I was all "Oh, this post would have been helpful a month ago but I found all the ~important~ posts already..." except the last one. I lost a dear friend a year ago due to suicide, and worry about a different family member than you. Just one more reason I am thankful for stumbling onto your blog. Thank you for sharing your life & thoughts on this strange blog world.
ReplyDeleteLove this, Meg! I don't think I've read all these posts so I'm grabbing a blanket and my cinnamon dolce latte and taking care of that now. :)
ReplyDeletePreach it, sister (Ode to the Cheetos)

Just caught up on the wedding cancelled plans, Meg. What a bummer. I hope your low-key fiesta in California, and just being back here for good, will help make up for it, even if just a teeny bit. Love following your blog!

I seriously have fallen in love with you all over again.
ReplyDeleteI love cheetos, too.
We all know life is not easy sometimes, or if we don't, we find out quick when life smacks us right in the face. I admire how you have taken all these lemons and turned them from sour to sweet.
ReplyDeleteHot cheetos!!
ReplyDeleteCHEETOS FOR THE WIN!! (Flaming Hots, please.)
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome that you have a master's in neuroscience- what made you interested in that field? was it a long time passion or a spur of the moment kind of thing? xx Georgia (the nerdy med student who happens to love your blog (: )
ReplyDeletehaha hi! Well I have always been interested in psychology, and have my bachelors in Psychology...but I wanted to focus more on the "sciencey" aspect of psychology as opposed to the counseling/therapy end. So when I found the cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging program (what my actual masters is in..but neuroscience is quicker to type out) i knew it was the right fit for what I was wanting to do :) Even when I was working in the fashion industry i always made sure to keep up in academia.
DeleteHey, I've commented before - about immigration to the US, but wanted to comment again and say hello properly. Thanks for this 'catch-up' post - very good idea.

ReplyDeleteThis is so cool you are in Neuroscience. I am a nurse in a Neurosurgery ICU and get all types of patients with various neuro injuries. It's rare to find someone else in the blogging world a neuro background! & love for fashion too :)

ReplyDeletethank you for this post! I started reading you recently (in the past 6-9 months or so?) and have loved your blog... but felt that there were things I was missing or "out of the loop" about. This put all the pieces together and I am now an even MORE devoted ATP reader :) Thank you for being so open, honest, genuine, and fabulously interesting. You have no idea how much I can relate to so much of what you have gone through. You inspire me to be more honest, and I love that.
