N.Ireland- Around Town

this may or may not be part of the view from our reception venue.

N. Ireland was so much brighter than Scotland during our trip,
so S and I tried to take advantage of this extra bit of sunlight
(even though it was still so freezing)
and took a drive around his hometown.
Our favorite spot is down by the harbor.
The boats, the coastline, the lone house on the hill,
it is all very picturesque.
I feel really lucky that we get to have our wedding ceremony in his hometown.
I know all of our American guests will love it,
especially in the summer where there wont (hopefully) be a bone cutting chill in the air that makes your eyes water...
and by eyes water of course I mean cry.
I swear it is like getting freezer burn on your face and inside your ears.
Not that i've ever had freezer burn,
since I dont typically curl up in the freezer with the meats..
but I imagine that is what my chicken sometimes feels like.
I digress.

  3. Northern Ireland looks so beautiful, and the view from your reception venue is just gorgeous!

I think I'm familiar with that "freezer burn" feeling. I am definitely not looking forward to winter now that I've been reminded of it. I swear, it feels like you're going to die the closer you walk towards the Hudson in the middle of January with the wind whipping around the buildings.

  6. Here in Minnesota we call human freezer burn "frost bite."

Also im pretty sure my future wedding will have to have its planning stages through the summer or I'll get scared and somehow end up in a bridal parka.

  9. Ok, ok. I'm officially jellies (aka jealous) of this wedding to come. I'll live vicariously through ever. single. picture.

In other news, how is it that you get your PORTRAIT picture to fill out your blog layout? Mine isn't small, but the "x-lg" isn't big enough and "actual size" is huge.

  13. The photos are gorgeous and with Ireland as the special guest at your wedding it is going to be a stunning and blessed occasion. I may just have to wonder into an Irish pub on the day and have a pint of Guinness and toast to the happy couple.

  26. what gorgeous photographs. Its so nice you get to have your wedding in his hometown - although I would warn american guests about the unpredictable nature of the weather in these parts and tell them two outfit options are adviseable - 1 for normal weather and 1 for freezing random summer weather :)

  27. Going ton London next May! (stoked. beyond.) I will definitely be using your UK styling expertise for my new wardrobe for the trip. And yes a 4 day trip to London warrants an entire new wardrobe.
I will also be in Paris for 4 days, double "duh" on needing an entire new closet.

Can't wait to pay closer attention to the weather patterns and your styling choices in the next few months. =)

  29. and random question, any things you're doing differently for wedding that you wished you had/hadn't done round 1?

    1. Hey girl! I am answering you here in case others are interested in this answer. Ill probably address this in a blog post at some point (dont know when) but eventually. BUT, there are definitely some things i am doing different. 1. less bridesmaids. I had 7 before and i think it was a mistake. I LOVED my girls, but i think less is less drama. haha. 2. hired someone to help style/plan this time 3. totally different dress. I did not LOVE my dress round 1 at all. I was a lot pickier this time and was more focused on what I wanted instead of what my mom liked ;) 4. Paying more attention to details. Round 1 i was SO lax. I could care less what type of flowers i had, what the paper goods looked like, how it was styled..i just skipped all of the small details and i wish i had maybe paid a little more attention, although i will say round 1 i was much less stressed out because i just cared less. Dont get me wrong, it was a beautiful and an AMAZING evening. SO much fun. I wouldnt take it back. but i would definitely try a little harder in regards to the small stuff. which i am trying to do now. BUT pinterest and blogs were not a part of my world way back then ;) Those are some of the things off the top of my head! :)

    2. pinterest and blogs are amazing but i'm stressed out thinking about the overload of picture information for whenever/if ever i'm planning my wedding haha

  45. lovely! all of it! since I'm not jetting off to N. Ireland anytime soon, I have coat questions: 1) will it be warm enough in the winter, or is it more for looks (I live in a freezing cold area and need a warm coat), and 2) how do Zara's sizes run (I also live in an area without Zara...sigh)

    1. Hi Sara! Well I would say it is pretty close to being beyond freezing here and so far i have no complaints. Ask me again when it is snowing. Its pretty thick, and im surprised to say its kept my torso area and arms warm. The downside is i cant layer under it because its very fitted (which i wanted it to be..i want a really well tailored fitted coat). Out of all the coats i have, its by farm the warmest. Its obviously not water resistant, so wouldnt recommend wearing it if its snowing or raining sideways outside.

I think Zara sizes are true to form. The coat I am wearing is an xs, because again, i wanted something well fitted to my form, and the small was just a little bigger than i wanted. Their sizes definitely do not on the bigger size.
