This post is going to be a sad reflection of my life.
But this is a lifestyle blog,
and tv has always been a huge part of my life.
That sounded even more pathetic than I had intended.
Let me start over.
My dad wrote for television.
For years he wrote for some of the most successful shows on tv.
Then, like most writers, he got the crazies and he retired young.
lucky.
About the retiring young..
not the crazies.
I spent a lot of time on the sets of shows,
drawing pictures for the likes of JTT and Jerry O'Connell.
I'm sure if I was a little older they would have reciprocated my love.
At least that's what I told my 6 year old self as I kissed the pictures of their faces that adorned my bedroom walls.
TV is the one thing my dad and I have ever connected on.
It is the one topic that we can agree on and talk about in a normal way.
As I got older and started working in LA,
I started making friends "in the industry"
and their faces started popping up on tv shows.
It all came full circle.
Except I didn't hang pictures of them on my wall.
That would of been weird.
So it really isn't that lame that I have a mild obsession with tv.
But lets be real here for a moment,
Television is SO good right now.
The other day I may or may not have made a calender with all of the current shows we are watching.
I know...
I have to live with that fact.
Oh,
you want to know my current watches?
I thought you would never ask.
*Revenge
*Homeland
*Grey's Anatomy (I'm not particularly proud of this one. But c'mon I needed to know what happened after the crash.)
*Private Practice (again, not super proud. But i love it. Maybe even more than Greys now)
The Walking Dead
American Horror Story
Survivor (I just lol-ed when I typed this. Stephen and I love watching this together. We got hooked during a slow time for television. )
666 Park Avenue (New show! Kinda love it)
*Dexter
*Modern Family (I personally think it is the best sitcom since Friends and The Office)
*These are shows I just watch. The other ones Stephen and I watch together.
I'm aware not all of the above would be classified as good tv.
But I think if you are shopping for a new, quality show,
Homeland, and The Walking Dead are just too good to miss.
Needless to say,
I'm pretty busy these days....
And for those who are wondering,
we get the shows online the day after they air.
And if you are still reading this post.
My hats off to you.
What are you watching right now?
Make me feel better.
What are you watching right now?
Make me feel better.
I promise I read books too.

I was actually wondering how you got the US tv ... I'm glad that you can (so now if I have to move overseas, I won't be devastated without my TV, lol). I can't help but watch Grey's too. It's gone so far down hill, but part of me is still drawn to it.
ReplyDeleteand nothing is more depressing than missing a show that was cancelled too soon. My favorites are: My Boys (TBS), Pan Am, What I Like About You, and Make It Or Break It.
I've been so curious what happened after the crash on Grey's (I stopped watching years ago - the plot lines just got too ridiculous for me - but have seen the commercials lately) but haven't gotten around to finding out.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen Up All Night? It's on NBC and I love it.
never heard of Up All Night...i always hear of new shows via word of mouth because we dont get any of the commericials for them over here. going to check it out!
DeleteI watch quite a bit of TV too. Since moving overseas, we tend to download a season and watch it all before moving on to the next. So far we've watched Weeds, Californication, Big Love, Lost, Mad Men - and currently loving Revenge. I generally read pretty serious books and I'm a thinker (my brain rarely shuts off) so I figure I can watch a few mind numbing hours of TV without feeling bad.
ReplyDeleterevenge - so good!
ReplyDeletegrey's - actually impressed with how much i am enjoying post crappy crashiness
90210 - embarrassed to admit it, and i actually never enjoy watching it but i can't stop hahah.
gossip girl - see above!
hart of dixie - my new all time favouriteeee. so cheesy but so lovely at the same time. it's my new gilmore girls.
modern family - 100% agree with you. best sitcome! so funny. i first got into it when the whole first season was on a flight from lon to syd. i was that obnoxious passenger who was snorting with laughter! never stopped loving it!
homeland - only JUST got into it, but so obsessed!
and yeah! it goes without saying that i watch these shows like hours after they air in the US. sucks being here though, because unlike in the UK, the shows aren't uploaded until like 6pm thanks to the ridiculous time difference. And that sounded wayyyy more pathetic than I intended. I knew i missed you for more than just your good looks megdog! haha xxx
girl, i am with you on the love of good tv. better than ever right now. i realize you didn't ask, but some other shows definitely worth watching (tho not currently in season): breaking bad, mad men, game of thrones. and i think parks n recreation is the funniest show currently on television. new girl is also pretty fantastic.
ReplyDeletenow tell me more about being on set with jtt..... ;)
Ah I meant to ask! thanks for reminding me! Im always looking for good shows (although my schedule is pretty full right now..LOL) You have good taste! We tried watching game of thrones but for some reason we just cannot get it up online.
Deletemodern family YES. watch friday night lights. and 666 park good? i thought the commercial looked decent. and is it just me or is revenge kind of stupid this season? homeland. i've heard that's good.
ReplyDeleteok, thats it.
I was loving the Walking Dead until I had my first nightmare about it last night. Oddly, it wasn't about zombies, but you know that moment when they watch Atlanta explode from far away? That's what happened in my dream. It was terrifying. Way more so than zombies.
ReplyDeleteYou might enjoy this if you're caught up (b/c there are spoilers!) - I got really confused about what was happening in a few episodes in season 2 so I googled and found my favorite Walking Dead recap on some rando website for moms. I now check it every week: http://thestir.cafemom.com/entertainment/145444/walking_dead_recap_who_lives
Oh! Oh! I'm assuming, because you're female, that you've seen Love Actually? How long did it take you to realize that Rick from Walking Dead is the guy with the signs from Love Actually? Therefore, this is my new favorite thing on the internet: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lbnmmpIhjc1qea4huo1_500.jpg
ReplyDeletelove this post. because let's be honest... isn't nightly tv what gets us ALL through the day? it's the light at the end of a long day tunnel. although i really hate the feeling that my life can't go on until i see the next episode of gossip girl.... i mean will chuck and blair reunite for the 5,000th time?!?! ok so my favs are: revenge (duh), person of interest, the mentalist, guys with kids (kind of full house like but i love it), gossip girl, hart of dixie... can you tell i like the cheesies??
ReplyDeleteHahaha you're hilarious about your dad getting the crazies. Pretty cool though that he was a writer! I really need to start watching American Horror Story. Mainly because Adam Levine is now in it. I watched the first episode of the first season and officially couldn't sleep because of it. Eep!
ReplyDeleteThis post couldn't have come at a better time! I just finished watching all 5 seasons of Friday Night Lights and actually got choked up, wondering how I would fill my time! I currently watch many of the same shows: Revenge, 666 Park Ave (that little girl ghost is creeping me out!) Private Practice, Grey's, Nashville, Hart of Dixie (a little embarrassed about that one) and Dexter! Don't worry, you're not alone!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently getting through the last season of How I Met your Mother and Jurgen and I are addicted to Breaking Bad! When I finished the last season of 16 and Pregnant I totally had that "omg what do I do with my life" moment!
ReplyDeletexxx
Jenna
I just finished watching an episode of Grey's Anatomy and then read this post... You're not alone at this TV watching thing! Revenge is totally addictive, I agree and Modern Family? so so funny! Sometimes we just need a little down time and escape from our busy lives and busy minds - don't feel guilty about what brings you respite and joy!
ReplyDeleteSal x
could not agree more!
DeleteI have just discovered, and fallen in love with a PBS show from the UK called "Call the Midwife" -it's on Sun. nights, it is a huge hit in the UK, and it is really wonderful. Have you seen it - you can probably watch this one on your actual tv! (really enjoy your blog, btw!)
ReplyDeleteNo i havent! is it a documentary series?? I have got to give the UK credit on that, they have the BEST documentary type shoes. I am ashamed to say im totally addicted to The Only Way is Essex and Made in Chelsea...*hangs head in shame*
Deleteshows* not shoes. but they have good shoes too.
DeleteNo, it's a drama with great characters!
DeleteOHMYGODJTTIDIE
ReplyDeleteParks and Rec, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl- and whenever I can, I keep up with John Stewart, because I love him. My hubby is over the moon about Walking Dead, but I can't bring myself to watch it. Zombies? Is it really good?
ReplyDeleteModern Family is the only show I currently follow, and I literally own all ten seasons of Friends and watch that in bed on my tiny little DVD playing TV before I fall asleep most nights.
ReplyDeleteI was really into Girls and Downton Abbey and I'm patiently awaiting their new seasons.
I'm obsessed with Raising Hope right now. And New Girl. But I love Modern Family, too! :) I'm a couple weeks behind on Grey's....better catch up!!
ReplyDeleteRevenge is my #1 guilty pleasure... Walking Dead, right behind that! I wish I could fast forward to next week's episodes of both!
ReplyDeletexo,
oolalalauren.
I am so ashamed to admit that I watch Gossip Girls. Hey, we all have vises and that is mine. My other obsession is Downton Abbey like every one else in the world.
ReplyDeleteMy other all time fave that has been off the air for a long time is Gilmore Girls. It's one of the few tv shows I actually own on DVD.
Do you think im going to be kicked out of the UK AND america if i say i have yet to get hooked on downton abbey? I watched the first episode and just never went back. but i feel like i need to try harder.
DeleteWHAT?! Is that even possible? Are you human and breathe air? Then you must, must, must give it another shot! (I'm only teasing. I love period pieces, so it is right up my alley. I do think it is something you have to watch a couple episodes to appreciate the drama)
DeleteI KNOW. I KNOW. People told me i need to stick it out for more than one episode. I typically like period pieces too..i LOVED the Tudors.
DeleteI have just gotten hooked on Nashville--- its so good. My brother is living in nashville where they are filming and got to be an extra! I also watch glee (embarassing)--- really any shows with singing I love! Jonathan and I watch Once Upon A Time & Grimm together too. and, I also watch Vampire Diaries.
ReplyDeleteI just read those back and it would appear I am a teenage girl.
There are multiple seasons of parks and recs on Netflix to watch on your computer. It's so brilliant particular starting in season 2 it makes modern family pale in comparison. Definately watch.
ReplyDeleteI watched the first couple seasons of Parks and rec! I liked it but for some reason just never continued to watch? But im also not a HUGE comedy watcher..not that i dont love or appreciate them, but i find myself more drawn to dramas.
DeleteWHAAAAATTTT?! No Law and Order: SVU?!
ReplyDeletehahaha. Is it better if im a huge criminal minds fan?? When S and I were visiting my grandma in florida ALL she watched was Law and Order SVU. ALL DAY. Stephen was about to claw his eyes out.
DeleteThe hubs and I watch Survivor together and have for years...it's the one show we always watch together. He has just recently become obsessed with The Walking Dead....watched the 1st 2 seasons in like 2 weeks and now is watching the 3rd that's on TV....he loves it, I haven't gotten into it yet! My shows I watch Parenthood (favorite), Grey's, 90210 (hangs head in shame) and of course more reality TV than I probably should!!
ReplyDeleteI love love Revenge. Watched it from Pilot until now. It's such a good show!
ReplyDeleteI also watch Hart of Dixie, The walking dead, The Mindy Project (she's hilarious), & Whitney!!
Homeland is just AMAZING. Also Revenge....so bad but so so so good! Like Sophie I also love 90210, Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie...and I am not a teenager....but I also read books...does that make it justifiable? Ah well I just don't care! xx
ReplyDeleteUgh Homeland and Revenge. im such a fan. And dont feel bad..my guilty pleasure is reality tv..and i just chose to leave that out because it was getting embarrassing. And all i read is like teen fiction. I cant get enough.
Deleteif there's a series my husband and i really like, we just keep watching them over and over - sad huh? :) i can't tell you how many times i've watched 'arrested development' the old 'office', '30 rock', 'modern family', 'downton abbey' and 'breaking bad'!
ReplyDeletei think it is SO fun getting hooked on a show with your significant other. Stephen and i have such a great time talking about and watching the shows we love.
DeleteRevenge is def. my most favorite right now. Absolutely love that show!
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely add Breaking Bad to this list. Best show of all time.
ReplyDeleteAhh I might just have to start Revenge and Homeland. But first I have to finish HBO's Game of Thrones -- SPECTACULAR if you can find a way to get HBO. S would love it too. It's my boyfriend and I's favorite show together to date.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Greys (i'm not ashamed) and Private Practice is ok - definitely gotta have Modern Family, and I've also gotten hooked on the new show Revolution! Kind of "Hunger Games" -esque.
ReplyDeleteHavent heard of revolution! will have to check it out.
DeleteThat's so funny because growing up I was completely the opposite. I grew up with literally 4 channels on TV (what the what?!) and I never really caught up with the shows. Even now, I don't watch much TV besides the news or SNL or Jay Leno's Tonight Show (I love it so much). So instead of TV, I am OBSESSED (an have always been) with movies.
ReplyDeleteI'm working through it.
Regardless, the film industry is a little different from the TV industry and I am utterly obsessed with it.
However, I am still a fan of SNL and I've caught a couple shows of The Big Bang Theory... Sienfeld is my sinful pleasure. I watch reruns way too much now.
Wow that was a long comment. I'll stop now.
Gossip Girl, Heart of Dixie, Fringe (so creepy now but I can't stop watching), Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and Last Resort. The only one I'm actually not embarrassed about is Last Resort. But believe me I make up for it in reality TV shows I wont even list!
ReplyDeleteRevenge is picking back up. I was a little worried because it started off kind of slow for a second. I'm also kind of getting into 666 Park Ave...a little creepy a little LOST-esque. Grey's is also a guilty guilty pleasure...but like you I must know what happened after that darn place crash. Though I'm not sure I can ever forgive Shonda for killing of Mark and Lexie. That's just cruel.
ReplyDeleteI'll be the first to admit that I watch entirely too much TV. and most of the time it isn't even when the show originally airs! I just spend hours staring at my computer screen. and that is my life.
ReplyDeleteanyway, I think my biggest obsessions in life are The Vampire Diaries, Parenthood, and Parks and Recreation. and 30 Rock, because hello, Tina Fey is amazing. and I love to watch The Office, just for the sake of seeing John Krasinski's face. and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Um, your cool factor just went up a million points right now. Your Dad wrote for television? I love that you represent America so well with your Hollywoodness. Not to say you're like Hollywood (far from, you're not superficial or crazy at all). But still. Glam, famous, the like.
ReplyDeleteI love Modern Family. Last night my husband got a blanket and ice cream and rubbed my back as we watched it.
What site you use to watch the shows?? I live in france and i cant watch anything :(
ReplyDeletecan you send me an e mail?? just click the contact tab. Ill give you the name of the sites we use via e mail if thats okay ;)
Deleteum. i'm with you on greys. :) My husband is the one who introduced it to me and we've watched every.single.episode. soooo hooked.
ReplyDeleteA lot of those! Plus sons of anarchy and boardwalk empire!
ReplyDeleteOh don't worry, I have the same issues with tv! Nothing better! Also loving 666 Park Ave & Am.Horror Story. Grey's is one of those guilty pleasures that even though I'm mad at how things are going, I'm still watching!
ReplyDeleteMy husband & I love Parks & Rec and New Girl, too.
I'm hooked on How I Met Your Mother and Up All Night! We're over in Belgium, so we have the same issue watching US shows online. I usually find out new shows when they come up on Hulu....but it's so annoying when we start watching an old show (currently it's Arrested Development) and they'll let you watch the first season for free, but you gotta pay for the following seasons! Grrr!
ReplyDeletesome of my more frustrating moments living out here have come from not being able to get a show online. I know. pathetic.
DeleteMy boyfriend and I also watch tv series together! Right now we're following Homeland (so good!), Dexter (he got me addicted to this one) and How I met your mother (which I think it's a new version of friends, you might like this one?)... Then I watch Grey's Anatomy and Modern Family by myself, too bad he's not into them! ;)
ReplyDeleteI actually have watched the first couple seasons of How I met your Mother..and this is going to sound rediculous, but i got WAY too impatient about waiting to find out who the mother was. I KNOW. Patience is not one of my strong suits. But i do think it is a REALLY well done show.
DeleteIt is so hard for me to get S into a tv show. (some of the stuff he watches..so.lame. but they are all unique to the UK). I tried to get him into homeland, and he just wasnt having it. SO lame. I thought at first it was because it was so very american, but his mom loves it! And im waay too far into dexter to go back and have him catch up. so thats never going to happen. lol. I DID manage to get him to watch the first 5 seasons of Greys with me (i was obviously willing to re-watch them). And then he tagged out.
Right now, I'm watching Revenge, 666 Park Avenue, and occasionally I watch Once Upon a Time, but its storyline is getting so complicated that I might stop soon. I also watch New Girl and Modern Family every week, though usually after they originally aired. I don't have DVR though, so that makes it a necessity to plan my activities around my shows. Gosh I sound like an old lady!!
ReplyDeleteI really want to get into Homeland, but that might be something I do when I have Christmas break.
Show you MUST watch: Breaking Bad. I had always heard that, but thought it couldn't be that good--I was so, so wrong. It is the most intense show I've ever watched. Absolutely loved it. Watched three seasons on Netflix in about a week. Which is why I may fail my exams soon.
And although it's not on in the US right now, Downton Abbey is my spring obsession. Just love, love, love it.
You are not the first person to tell me about breaking bad. my little bro and best friend are die hard fans. which you would think would have made me get on it by now. I think now that literally SO many people have told me about it im going to start watching it. Im starting to feel so lame that I havent yet, because i KNOW it is legit.
DeleteLuke & I got hooked on Breaking Bad. We watched every episode on Netflix in like a month! BUT NOW we have to wait until June for the next (and final) season (sad)! We're currently going through withdwarls.
ReplyDeleteugh. okay. i have to get into it now. EVERYONE tells me i have to. I actually did watch the first episode and was totally impressed. i dont know why i didnt return. but im going to now. i have to.
DeleteWell shit. I don't watch ANY of those. Though I want to catch up on Revenge and Dexter and Modern Family and have heard great things about 666 Park Avenue and Homeland. I rarely get started on shows in their first season(s). Like Glee. I'm ashamed to admit it because I tried to watch it forever and thought it was stupid but now that the characters are (mostly) out of high school...it's kinda good. Don't tell anyone I said that. Also, New Girl. I just love it. New shows that I'm giving a try are: Revolution (amazing), Partners (I love Sophia Bush so I deal with it), The New Normal (it kinda bothers me but I'm still watching). 2 Broke Girls is back (I'm over it, but also...still watching). I got caught up with Elementary and I love it, too. I watch it at work on Fridays when there isn't much going on. And, my favorite show on TV -- How I Met Your Mother. Once Upon a Time is fun, too -- but it was much better last season. I've never watched this much TV in my life. And I keep remembering more shows like The X Factor and Whitney. And Pretty Little Liars. I'm stopping now.
ReplyDeletehahahha. i loved this comment. I had to delete a couple of reality tv shows because it was just getting sad.
Deletelove homeland--so good! haven't watched revenge meant to but missed so many...maybe i will be able to watch them all at some point. what else do i watch? gossip girl occassionally; downton abbey {give it another go}; great british bake off which has just finished {yes i am like old}; towie and made in chelsea. yea i love reality tv and am not ashamed...well not enough to keep me from watching it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Made in Chelsea and TOWIE. if i added my reality tv list people would be concerned.
DeleteChicago Fire. Watch it. Love it. Done. Sexy firemen and drama? I'm already hooked. It's on Wednesday nights i believe. I also watch Once Upon a Time but the special effects are so horrible. I just love Disney too much to never not watch it though. :)
ReplyDeletehmmm Chicago fire sounds interesting... ;) i watched once upon a time on a plane to california once..and i just could not get into it.
DeleteI've been debating writing a really similar post to this, but worried about letting people see the true nature of my tv watching, so thanks for taking the plunge first! We seem to have veryyyy similar taste in shows too! You should check out Nashville and Once Upon a Time, too.
ReplyDeletehahaha. you are welcome ;)
DeleteI've stopped watching Grey's about 85 million times, but then Shonda thinks of something more twisted than a Jodi Piccoult novel and I get sucked right back in. I really started moving on when Izze started having ghost sex and reviving deer in pickup trucks.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing previews for Revenge and thought it looked so stupid and now I basically want to be Victoria Grayson for Halloween and want Madeleine Stowe to be my aunt.
I've now gotten sucked into Nashville because I support all Connie Britton and giant haired endeavors.
Once Upon a Time is the CHEESIEST but I watch it every week like a dweeb and I have no shame whatsoever.
I also get the shows the day after they air in the US. I have no patience & also don't have the channels that most of them are shown on here in Ireland!
ReplyDeleteAt the moment (and it's a longer list than yours!) I am watching:
Mondays:
Once upon a time
Revenge
Walking Dead
666 Park Avenue
Tuesdays:
How I met your mother
2Broke Girls
Gossip Girl
Wednesdays:
Hart of Dixie
Thursdays:
Suburgatory
Fridays:
Big Bang Theory
Greys Anatomy
Glee
Saturday:
Grimm
Doctor Who
That's a long list :) I'm also trying to catch up on Supernatural at the moment & counting down the days to season 3 of Game of Thrones!
Your blog is like a never ending TV show, love reading your posts!!!
ReplyDeletehahaha THANK YOU!! best compliment EVER.
Deleteoh boy my list is a little too long.... i watch:
ReplyDeleteprivate practice
greys anatomy (again, not proud of either, but i can't stop now)
modern family
scandal (recently started it and am in love)
parenthood
gossip girl
How I met your mother
Nashville
Criminal Minds
i'm trying to only watch spanish tv to help with my spanish learning, but i've definitely snuck in a few episodes of how i met your mother and new girl... they never fail to make me laugh when i'm exhausted or a little tiny bit homesick
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE 666 Park Avenue. Modern Family, Dexter, Happy Endings, and Vampire Diaries are my other favorite shows! Vampire Diaries is probably my number 1 :). I rarely get a chance to stop working so every once in a while it is nice to put down all of the papers I have to grade or lessons I need to plan and just immerse myself in an imaginary world!
ReplyDeleteYou have very good taste in tv ;)
DeleteModern Family is one of the best series I have watched - we watch it online and I got hooked straight away. I love the topsy turvy style of the whole thing and I find myself laughing out loud every time.
ReplyDeleteModern Family is AMAZING.
DeleteStop it with Survivor. I thought I was the only one who still watched it! I'm obsessed. Give me a reward challenge and Jeff Probst any day of the week. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI watch all those shows...and then some. You'll be proud to know that I record 24 shows on my DVR. Yes, 24. Let's start a club for our addiction.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Grey's Anatomy. I loved Seasons 1-3 (which I still watch), but I had to find out what happened after the crash! I just watched the first 3 episodes of this season online yesterday. I may or may not have cried with the whole Mark thing. And Homeland is awesome! I'm am so hooked! What are Carrie and Saul going to do with that video?!
ReplyDeleteAside from your list I also watch Real Housewives OC and Beverly Hills {and that's way more pathetic than anything on your list}. Ooh and The Good Wife but that's kind of gone downhill this season. Even worse, I don't have cable (please don't hate me) so I have to catch up on shows when I'm at my guys place and I can use OnDemand. I keep a list in my phone of where I'm at. :) Super lame. I really like the calendar idea though!
Revenge, The Walking Dead, Homeland... YESSSSSSSSSS.
ReplyDeleteNow you need to add Parks and Recreation to that list babe ;)
I've been watching Mad Men, it's fantastic. I'm getting tired of Revenge.

♥
that quote is my life right now. and i am still ashamed of you for not watching breaking bad.
ReplyDeletethis is what's going to happen to me when KUWTK goes off the air.
ReplyDeletebut who are we kidding? kim will have a reality show 'til the day she dies. and probably after that, too.
Hmm. Make you feel better? OK ...
ReplyDeleteDancing with the Stars!
Arrow!
Psych!
The Voice!
annnnnnd Elementary.
So I zipped through the comments and not sure if someone said it, but Private Practice got canceled. =/
ReplyDeleteI watch Once Upon A Time, Up All Night, Vampire Diaries (guilty pleasure), The Office (though its a 'meh' this season)...and that might be it... I did watch on Netflix Drop Dead Diva and a show that just went right out of my head about a suave con guy helping the FBI, ack! Its on the tip of my tongue!! Any way, that's pretty much it. I just canceled my Directv. womp womp
Dude, Season 3 premiere of Modern Family......JACKSON HOLE!
ReplyDeletewhat what!!
xo the egg out west.
OK, I tried to skim the comments (and your replies)in hopes of not being repetitive... but might have missed stuff.
ReplyDeleteI actually don't watch a single one of the shows you listed! But I DO watch a LOT of TV myself.
I am big on almost any HBO show (older ones: Rome, Deadwood, Big Love)
Current HBO shows: GIRLS!! Have you seen it?? I LOVE IT.
Also, Treme. The show is great, and the music is REALLY great. :)
I'm working my way through (and loving) Mad Men.
And I LOVED the Tudors, too. :) I have a small obsession with Henry VIII and all things Tudor. No on Game of Thrones? I read all the books so I am STOKED on it.
The ones we tend to watch together are: Jeopardy (hehe, I DVR every episode), The Amazing Race (might be my favorite network show), Top Chef (sometimes he gets tired of it), House Hunters International (!) and... that's about it. He would watch cheesy action flicks 24/7 if I let him get away with it.
We don't really catch sitcoms often but I do like Parks & Rec, and I loved The Office for a long time, but we quit on it a few years back. I know there are a lot of good ones right now so i need to check them out. DVR to the rescue!
Blah, apparently I have a lot to say about TV. :P
Parenthood. It's my therapy. I cry every episode. I'm literally watching it as I type this comment. And I've cried twice already.
ReplyDeleteThat's all.
Since I've decided that I would love to have a life similar to yours and you watch just as much tv as I do, I must be on the right track. I'm with you on Grey's Anatomy, I have to stick it out to the end and see how they rap the show up (this has to be the final season, right??) Also, I'm in love with New Girl and Big Bang Theory. And Downton Abbey (obviously). And Amazing Race. And Real Housewives of New York. Ok, maybe I have a slight addiction, but I'm ok with it :)
ReplyDelete-Jess
love this post!!
ReplyDeletejust started following your blog & i adore it!
check mine out and follow back?!
please & thank you :)

SHUT UP. You drew pictures for JTT? He was probably my first real celebrity crush. I remember having a picture of him hanging up in my locker when I went into the 4th grade. I probably fell in love with him at a younger age though, because I remembered trying to find his name in the phone book so I could call him. (that's how I thought it worked when I was little - wasn't everyone in the phone book!?) Anyhow, color me super jealous right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Survivor; I've seen every season and can't stop watching. Don't judge, but my family are huge Survivor nuts and we always get together for the finale. We have some tiki idol my dad bought in Trinidad and we light candles around it. A few years ago, we bought a Survivor buff and now it wears that too and we all sing the opening theme song/chat like idiots. (Longest comment ever, and most embarrassing, right here).
Also watch: Nashville, The Good Wife, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Modern Family, and Glee. My evenings basically revolve around TV - easy to do since I live alone.
watching Gossip Girl right this second. Crap! why did you have to ask? i feel like a high schooler. :/ whatevs
ReplyDeleteYou should try Father Ted or The It Crowd!
ReplyDeleteOld fashioned, Brit humour, pure perfection...
I too have a love affair with TV shows and Netflix and Hulu feed my addiction.
ReplyDelete1. Modern Family
2. Parks and Rec
3. Raising Hope
4. The office...i'm holding on and finishing with the cast and crew!
5. Happy Endings
6. Community
7. Desperate Housewives (a bit late to the party)
8. Walking Dead

So many good ones!
Meg, this post makes you very NORMAL!! I have yet to find someone who doesn't watch TV... (everyone has their shows!)
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, Desperate Housewives (finished now!), CSI (New York, Miami and Las Vegas), Suits, Revenge and about to start Pretty Little Liars. How bad am I??
I am not a fan of reality TV though except Masterchef - the rest I HATE!!!!
x
I just stumbled upon your blog and I am an instant fan! I am not from LA but lived there for a few years after highschool before moving to NYC with my hubby. And I too am in fashion. I am a fashion design major at FIT here in the city, I graduate in May. Anyways love your blog, I will be following, can't wait to read more. And I agree that Modern Family is great! I think I need to watch Homeland, I keep hearing amazing things about it!
ReplyDeleteLove from NYC,

such a fan of your work! and Homeland is AMAZING.
DeleteWow. A lot of people love tv this season! Hahaha
ReplyDeleteModern Family is just. Amazing. Seriously I laugh til I cry a little with each episode. It always is so hard for me to believe Phil Dunphy (TM) is not a real life guy. A world without a real Phil Dunphy is too sad to dwell on.
Also have you taken the time to check out New Girl? Hysterical.
like i said, tv is just SO good right now! and i guess i am not the only one that thinks so! Omg Modern family. i just love it so much. i laugh, i cry, i love them.
DeleteAnd yes! I watched the first two episodes on a plane once and i actually LOLed.
obviously with the million comments, we're all a little obsessed. i watch homeland, revenge and modern family and will punch a human who comes between me and them.
ReplyDeletethis is obviously one of the MANY reasons we are good friends.
DeleteHilarious! I'm currently watching Dexter, and totally hooked. I just finished Season 4, and I know I'll be the same way you are when it's finished - whatever will I do with all my time? Start another T.V. show, I suppose. I can only manage one at a time!
ReplyDeleteThis quote is me after the Xfactor. Hashtag: dermotandgaryaremybff's
ReplyDeleteOh yes, TV and it's fabulousness. I share the same love. Share the same TV show loves too...except for Walking Dead and Survivor. :( I watch way too much TV, but it keeps me entertained and that's all that matters. At least to me. ;) And don't worry, I have a calendar and a notebook ready with all my shows, the seasons I'm on and what episode I have to watch next otherwise I'd get lost somewhere down the line. I know I have no life. ;( LOL
ReplyDeletexoxo
Confession. I saw White Collar for the first time (Tiffany Amber Thiessan makes a comeback) and I have to say I LOVED it. And how do you not watch Downton??? Best.show.
ReplyDeleteWHAT?! how did you not tell me you've been watching white collar? it's grant and my guilty pleasure...except we never feel guilty afterward.
Deletei am certainly not proud of my DVR list but i truly can't part with it.
ReplyDeleteGreys...obviously
Private Practice...obviously
Married to Jonas
anything Kardashians when its on
New Girl
Ben and Kate
Once Upon a Time
I'm such a tween :)
OH and I have Home Improvement & Boy Meets World on a series recording, just to catch up on old episodes and relive my childhood ....again with the tweening
ReplyDeleteI'm TV obsessed as well. It may or may not become a problem. Or it already is... what's a social life? I wouldn't know because I'm too concerned with missing my shows...
ReplyDeleteI'm watching Once Upon A Time, 666 Park Avenue (loving it too!!), Revenge, Sons of Anarchy, Glee, New Girl, The New Normal, Mindy Project, Go On, Criminal Minds (always watch reruns, try to catch the present episodes) annnnnnd I think that's it. A lot of shows conflict with each other at the same time so thank goodness for On Demand. I used to watch The Walking Dead- it gave me such bad anxiety! But I've missed this season so far... I need to decide whether I'm sticking with it!!
Right now I'm watching 2 Broke Girls, Gossip Girl, Criminal Minds, and Hart of Dixie live, as well as catching up on The West Wing and New Girl.
ReplyDeleteObviously everyone enjoys a little zoning out time. Tots necessary for the sanity. I think someone mentioned Scandal. It's on after Greys in the states. Kerry Washington is amazing and it's always fast paced and thrilling. Def one to watch!
ReplyDeleteUgh waiting to get shows outside the US is so annoying! Love Revenge and Modern Family. Also (somewhat shamefully as well) watch Grey's. I will have to check out Homeland. Breaking Bad gets my vote for best show on TV or maybe ever! I promise you will be hooked!
ReplyDeleteHa! I just saw this post! Seriously, your list isn't even bad. I watch all of those, plus I may have just finished watching EVERY SEASON of Make it or Break It, Greek, and Secret life of the American Teenager. That last one- horrible, but I just kept watching. There's also...
ReplyDeleteNew Girl
Breaking Bad
Once Upon A Time
2 Broke Girls (HILARIOUS! Even Aaron will watch it)
Gossip Girl
Hart of Dixie
and...I need to stop there.
I need to get a job. But, TV is just so much more fun! LOL
