I am sure most of you who obsessively pin wedding stuff, like myself, have seen this bridesmaid gift box idea...
I pinned it a long time ago and knew it was something I wanted to do whenever I got engaged.
It ended up being a perfect way to connect with my three bridesmaids, who all live in California.
Plus, who doesn't love a little snail mail?
I found these cute little wooden boxes at a craft store and painted them.
I ordered the "will you be my bridesmaid" cards from Rifle Paper Co. (they ship internationally! holler!)
and I printed out a few different little pieces of information for the girls such as
"About the Groom"
"About the Bride"
"Meet the bridal party"
and
"Dress information."
Stephen and I went to a paint shop and picked up a bunch of free paint swatches in my color palette,
and then bought some candy that you can only get out here and a little bucket to put them in.
Each box had their name written on the inside courtesy of Stephens handwriting
(my handwriting is horrendous).
(my handwriting is horrendous).
Now we all know who is going to be addressing the invites...
I was pretty happy with the way they turned out.
I am FAR from an expert crafter..
In fact I would go as far as to say I am a horrible crafter and DIYer.
My little brother has laughed many a times at the things I have attempted to create
(he is very supportive).
My mind just does not work in a artistic way.
I only know what I like based on seeing it complete (thank you pinterest and those who make these things for me to see).
Creating something from start to finish is impossible for me.
My bridesmaids will attest to this as well,
since they get about a million e mails a day asking what they think of this and that.
(sorry ladies...)
Receiving the boxes hopefully made the wedding planning feel more real,
since we are in a situation where we are separated by an ocean during the planning process.

Can't wait to hug these ladies in person in December!

what a cute idea! i love how creative it is.... i'm sure they will be thrilled! xo
ReplyDeleteI love things like this for bridesmaids! I wanted to do something super creative, but with a 6 month engagement I felt a little pressed for time. But I still kind of regret not doing something that we would all always remember. I'm sure that was a very exciting package for all of them!
ReplyDeleteThis is cute! I let my bridesmaids pick their own dresses, and I just gave them a stack of paint chips in the shades of green I liked and told them "tea length". Everyone had a different dress that fit each of them beautifully, and they all looked lovely together!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!!
That is what we are doing too!
Deletei've always loved this idea and will probably do the same once i get engaged (if that day ever comes...ahem, hurry up boyfriend. j/k. sorta). my friend ordered the same cards from Rifle Paper Co and used them to ask us to be her bridesmaids too! they are just the cutest.
ReplyDeleteThe cards are so so cute. i love them

ReplyDeleteThese are darling!! I've wished so many times that pinterest was around when I got married ;) haha
ReplyDeleteI don't have a crafty bone in my body, so bravo to you for pulling these off. That pretty card hole punched w/a lolly pop would probably been the extent of my craftiness.

I bet they turned out perfectly too, these little boxes. I love them. And I love your bm dress colors! I did te same thing with the paint swatches in any shade of coral and let the girls pick their own sundresses. It turned out perfectly, so don't even worry.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know you already made yours, but this is how I asked my girls to be in our wedding :)

ReplyDeletehopefully never.
Aw, How Exciting!! :)

Love it! I pinned the save project for my bridesmaids, but wouldn't ya know I never got around to doing it...{oops} so kudos to you for actually get the job done! :)
ReplyDeletesuch a cute idea! I SO wish Pinterest had been around when I got married haha - there's always vow renewals right? (at least this is what I keep telling myself)
ReplyDeleteThis is SUCH a great idea! I love it! I have no idea how I'm going to ask my bridesmaids. Or if I should even have any, honestly. Sometimes it really is so much easier to just think about eloping.

This is a fabulous idea! You werked it gurl. Love. And obvee these lovely ladies will say yes. Who wouldn't?!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! I love how paint swatches can be like magic.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a different take on the bridal party gift box. mainly because we're a bunch a crude and unclassy ladies. I do love your take on it! And i miiiiight just take that color palette idea from you. if you say okay of course :]
ReplyDeleteAHH, love! I don't think the inability to know what you like until you see it makes you unartistic, maybe because I'm the same way and don't want to think of myself as unartistic haha. I think creativity has a lot to do with your ability to be like "I like these things" and make them all work together for YOUR vision, something unique to you.
ReplyDeleteso cute I just died.
ReplyDeleteoh wow these are so cute!! I'm sure they'll love them :) It's coming up so soon... aaah!!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! What a sweet idea, and I love the pieces you chose to include. What lucky ladies to receive such a gift! I loooove your colors.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea!
ReplyDeleteThey look lovely Megan.
I've seen those pins and I bet they turned out fabulous! I think it's a great idea and I love that you included the paint samples.
ReplyDeleteReally insipired by your design.I think this can also be done in different boxes like fancy box designs right? I'll give it a try. Thanks for sharing!
