LWD and Julia Roberts

little white dress: Zara (cant find it on the site anymore, but like this alice and olivia one here | Jewelry c/o Poshlocket: necklaces: here+here  Bracelete: here + here+here   Earrings: here

I don't know how it started,
but I have been obsessively watching Julia Roberts films...

I can't stop.

Every time I think of a movie I want to watch,
it ends up being one that Julia Roberts is in...

Thus far I have watched..
Steel Magnolias (if you want to be utterly depressed and or need a go cry, this one is for you)
Pretty Woman (needs no explanation)
Eat Pray Love (I have seen it three times now, and this time it was like watching a totally different film..it SPOKE to me)
Step mom (the scene where she made life size prints of the children to surprise Susan Sarandon..lost it)
Sleeping with the Enemy (one of my all time favorite crazy lover borderline lifetime channel movie)

If i could get Erin Brockovich online I would watch that next..
(the only one Stephen has stayed awake for is Sleeping with the Enemy)

The following are my favorite quotes from Steel Magnolias and Eat Pray Love (I love me a good quote, and when one speaks to me I write it down immediately..I am aware this makes me dramatic/cheesy)

Steel Magnolias:  "I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special"

Eat Pray Love: I've come to believe that there exists in the universe something I call "The Physics of The Quest"- a force of nature governed by laws as real as the laws gravity or momentum. And the rule of Quest Physics maybe goes like this: "If you are brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting(which can be anything from your house to your bitter old resentments)and set out on a truth-seeking journey(either externally or
internally),and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue, and if you accept everyone you
meet along the way as a teacher, and if you are prepared - most of all -to face (and forgive) some very difficult realities about yourself....then truth will not be withheld from you." Or so I've come to believe.”

I know.
chills.

And, speaking of movies that speak to you... Have you seen The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel?

As a fellow expat, it definitely spoke to me.

"Everything will be all right in the end. So if it is not all right, then it is not yet the end."

And I want to be Dame Judi Dench when I grow up.

    Love your blog!!

  28. I'd say Eat Pray Love is one of those wake up call type movies... I mean how can you watch that movie and not go "damn it. I think I'm doing this all wrong." Well I guess thats for everyone who is not living life EXACTLY how they want.

  32. Just watched Erin B on TV the other night...such a great story.

And Stepmom - I have it on DVD and pop it in anytime I need a good cry. When her an Susan Sarandon are at dinner talking about the daughter's wedding day? OMG. The last time I watched it, my husband tried to turn it off because I was crying so hard!

  43. oh my God - I absolutely lose it when I watch Stepmom. that part where they talk about the daughter's wedding day? I sob. and don't even get me started on the photograph at the end, when Julia Roberts says, "Okay, now the whole family." I die. (Literally. Tears. Right now. At my desk. At the office. Awkward.)

  44. all those films are classics.

i love eat.pray.love so much it spoke to me too and made me want to go travelling for ages and see the world and just live without worrying about plans.

and i tear up at that scene in stepmom, who doesn't?

    ReplyDelete
  45. oh no! Does it make it make you dramatic and cheesy to write down quotes you like?! I always do that.

I once rewound I am Sam about 20 times to write down the quote I wanted. I guess that does kinda sound dramatic.

  46. Um, how adorable are you in that first picture? Answer: very (totally makes me sound like a creeper, but I promise I'm not). These pictures are giving me major hair and dress envy, you lucky girl!

I'm completely with you on keeping inspiring quotes written down somewhere for when you need them. I have an entire bookmarks folder FULL of my faves, which I think counts. If you liked the quotes from he other Julia movies you've seen (which, I mean, how could you not?), you're going to LOVE the gems that come out of her mouth in Erin Brokovich. Definitely a must-see.

  51. I love Julia Roberts. I've loved her ever since I watched Step Mom and Pretty Woman with my mom when I was younger. Every single fall, I watch Step Mom and Practical Magic, because it reminds me of movie nights with my mom and sisters during the fall time while growing up.
