SO I forgot to tell you all about that time Stephen and I went to Florida after California..
I know you all have been wondering what happened on that mystery trip for WEEKS now.
confession: I did not take a SINGLE photo while we were in Florida.
bad blogger.
Truth be told, we really went to FL to spend time with grandmother..
which meant we stayed within a 2 mile radius of her house at all times.
And when we did drive the 1 to 2 miles to a restauraunt,
we thought we were going to die.
Because grandma should NOT be driving.
S and I white knuckled it every time we got in the death mobile.
My Grandma lives in Boynton Beach,
about 20 mins from West Palm Beach..
she lives in a gated community comprised of 2000 homes..
it basically makes up the majority of the area..
and the minimum age requirement to live in one of those homes is 55...(for serious)
and I think you have to be jewish too..
although i dont think they outrightly say that..
but im pretty sure it's true.
S and I were the youngest people everywhere we went by about 40 years.
I did get some good shopping in though..
which is what grandmas are for right?
Spoiling the grandchildren?
Here is the thing,
Shane and I are the only grandchildren on my dad's side
(he is the only child in case that went past you)
So every time my grandparents would come into town,
they would take shane and I school shopping.
Back in the day,
before I had any concept of money,
I used to just throw everything I wanted in the shopping cart.
My grandma tells the story of the time i took every item of jewelry off the rack and tossed it in the cart like it was no biggy.
I NEEDED 100 PAIRS OF CLIP ON EARRINGS
and some jelly sandals.
(don't worry, she made me put the jewelry back)
(don't worry, she made me put the jewelry back)
Now I feel a little awkward about letting her buy me things..
I start to sweat and get flustered..
not that it stopped me from picking up some new items..
I'm not an idiot.
but I wasn't running down the aisles of limited too grabbing as much as I could hold
(mainly because I don't shop at limited too anymore..which apparently is now known as Justice? RIP)
Stephen was a little nervous to meet the infamous renee..
My grandmother is NOT easy to please
(just ask every single waiter/waitress that had the unfortunate pleasure of serving us)
but Stephen completely won her over.
She just adored him.
I walked in the room and S had given her a hug and kiss on the cheek and she was all
"I'm just necking with your boyfriend"
she is a feisty one that Renee.
And that is what happened in Florida.
And that is what happened in Florida.

Just yesterday my friends and I were having a discussion about how we used to love Limited Too and are depressed that it's now called Justice! RIP indeed.
ReplyDeletefiesty grandmas are my favorite thing. i have one myself and aspire to be one someday.
ReplyDeleteGrandmas definitely are the best at spoiling their grandchildren. I know mine was!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy Grandma would always take me shopping too! LOVED IT! and miss her.
ReplyDeletehahaha, just necking with your boyfriend.
ReplyDeletesassy renee.
Renee needs to buy me a new wardrobe before W2. As a 'thank you for loving and supporting my granddaughter' sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteHahah hilarious. I'm pretty sure that most grandmas shouldn't be driving anymore. Our grandma still loves her 7 and 7 and now we giver her only a tiny pour of 7 and a glass of seven up. Can't have grandma running around drunk.
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE those fiesty grandmas...sounds like you had a wonderful time!!! Just necking with your boyfriend....I die, so cute!
ReplyDeleteawwww Grandma! I remember the first time I went shopping with my Grandparents after I starting having a real concept of money and how much clothes actually cost and I felt sooo uncomfortable too! We went to american eagle (I think I was in 8th or 9th grade) and I picked out shorts and a tank top and my Grandma was like "dont you want more" and I felt really bad getting more!
ReplyDeleteLove that last quote, my grandmother would say something like that, too! haha
ReplyDeleteConfession of a teenage drama queen: I used to work at Limited Too, so I know your kind far too well ;) Them grandmas love spoiling the little princesses with glitter, and neons, and all that good stuff. Renee sounds amaze.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great little vacation! Feisty grandmas are the best. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Way to leave us all with a big fat grin. Love that!
ReplyDeleteNeed photos of your new digs. Always good for some inspiration. And how could she not fall in love with a tall, dark, Irishman? That accent alone- swoon!
I think Limited Too used to be called CountySeat because by brother used to work there 15 years ago...and then it changed.
ReplyDeleteGuess they can't make up their minds.
So glad you survived the scary grandma driving.
When I visited mine last November, I demanded I drive everywhere. I wouldn't let her get behind the wheel with me in the car.
I'm so mean!!
Emily at Amazing Grapes
Ha! I totally know how it is driving {and shopping} with Grandparents! Greatest people in the whole world, but also really scary drivers and really demanding in restaurants. I feel like waitresses see my grandpa walk in the door and just turn around and run!
ReplyDeleteGlad S hit it off with the grams... that's big points for him ;)
xxx

This makes me laugh. My husband was born in Boynton Beach and he always complains about growing up with all the old people. Guess somethings never change. It sounds like you had a great time! Major points for the BF winning Grams over.
ReplyDelete"I'm not an idiot" HAHA! This post really gave me the sunshine I needed today Meg! Too cute and funny :)
ReplyDeleteYour grandma sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteoh jewish grandmothers.
ReplyDeletereally wish i had one.
rest in peace limited too.
xo the egg out west.
My parents took us to our grandparents retirement community for Spring Break 2003, partayyy! Justice has a hint of preteen skank that Limited Too lacked with their varsity letter cardigans, times are a changin'.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh...At least 55 and Jewish!
ReplyDeleteGlad your grandmother and Stephen hit it off! I am sure that helped your visit to be enjoyable.
limited too. the best place on earth. i spent a good part of my childhood in there, while the moms was on the other side. genius concept. justice grosses me out and looks like it outfits miniature prosties these days. my sister and i mourned the loss of limited too. long after we were no longer able to wear limited too. okay enough of my LT2 chat.
ReplyDeleterenee sounds amazing. and i can't wait for you to come back to FL. I'll show you a good flor-didia time
Renee sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteYoungest by 40 years. That is hysterical. And so true. My gram lives in that area of fl too and i always feel about three generations behind.
Your post was hilarious, especially because in March i spent 3 weeks (yes a long time!) in Delray Beach with my boyfriend at his grandma's condo! His grandma being a true winter bird.
ReplyDeleteSo your post is very relatable.... I managed to justify a trip to Target every day (I've never bought as much nailpolish!) just so I could get out of the gated community of 70+.
She said necking? BAHAHA- love her!
ReplyDeleteI love feisty grannys--they are the best!
ReplyDeleteaw, we were in florida at the same time! eep!
ReplyDeleteWhat a diva, not everyone can make a man work so hard. I still remember my swimsuit from Limited Too. It was navy and had sunlfowers ALL OVER THE PLACE and my bff at the time had the same one...so, naturally, we both wore it when we went to the beach. When did co-swimsuiting go out?
ReplyDeleteaww...cute! my Nana lives in a senior community, too. they love to play bridge, walk around the complex, and GOSSIP like there is no tomorrow. oh and she is a big fan of the scotch (on the rocks, gag), so she can be pretty funny sometimes. :) it sounds like you had a relaxing time (except while being in the car)
ReplyDeletehahahah. this is the best evvver!
ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought Limited Too, closed down. Justice? Hmm..
ReplyDeleteHaha, your Grandma is hilarious and sassy indeed.
Aw, it sounds like it was a good visit!
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious. I am from Boynton Beach and most likely was involved in the construction of the community your grandmother lives in. My husband and I just relocated to California, and being a little homesick, it was nice to laugh at good 'ol Boynton and the thousands of older, Jewish families taking over. :) Thank you!
