May Itinerary

this moment made possible by the USA. obviously.

First off,
can i say the comments on my post about the "incident"
were amazing.
I got this sense of female power in hearing all of the stories about letting it rip in front of your significant other..
or in some cases not letting it rip
(even after 5 years!)
and maintaining the perfect woman appearance.
I take my hat off to you and your stomachs of steel and bums of great restraint.

Now lets look at my California May trip itinerary
that is sure to get the gases flowing

In no particular order:

1. In N Out

2. Taco Bell

3. KFC (i know this is a bit random, but Stephen cant believe that a KFC has mashed potato's, mac n cheese and what we call biscuits as side options)

4. WoodRanch BBQ (which is not mexican food..trust me..this had to be explained to Stephen..and should probably be explained to the rest of the UK)

5. Cheesecake factory (avocado egg rolls anyone? But really I think S is going to be shocked by the freaking 40 page menu..HI WELCOME TO AMERICA)

6. DUKES

7. Paradise Cove

8. Yamatos

9. Italia Deli (the best deli ever in my hometown of Agoura Hills)

10. Agoura Deli (a family ritual..they serve breakfast all day. nuff said.)

11. A blate (yes, i just cited myself) in Santa Barbara with Ahnika and her husband

12. a blate with Emily and her boyfriend

13. Baduggos (another family ritual..best garlic bread ever)

14. Laguna Beach

15. Javiers at Crystal Cove (my all time favorite mexican restaurant)

16. Giving Stephen the "i grew up here tour" ie: my house, high school, college, etc

17. get tan (this should really be number one)

 18. wine tasting in Santa Barbara with the family

tbc when i think of more..

Clearly there is a pattern with this itinerary..
since 99% of it is food..
and the 1% is driving to a location to eat food..or drink wine..
tomato tomato.

  1. 1. In N Out - This is the one that used to do like a 20x20 burger or something where you could ask for 20 burgers and 20 slices of cheese or something crazy

    5. Cheesecake factory - Is this as in the same Cheesecake Factory that Penny works for in The Big Bang Theory? (Yes you'll find that most of my references to Amercian culture come from films or TV shows lol)

There's a 45.3% chance that I might be going to the US to our companies HQ next year - I was watching HIMYM yesterday and texted my OH saying that if I have the choice of when I'm going I want to go for Superbowl weekend and he just laughed at me. (Well it was either that or Macy's Parade which is even cheesier I think lol). I'm going to be so stupidly excited when it's a higher percentage of chance that I'm going. But I'm not holding my breathe.

  2. WOOD RANCH!! Their mac n cheese is dabomb.com!

My best friend used to work at the one by my parents house in Chino Hills and she'd bring me bottles of the BBQ sauce and lots of mac n cheese.

I miss it. You'd think North Carolina would have good BBQ but nope!

  3. That is a lot of eating. But my visits to familiar places usually Involve a long list of places I need to eat at too... A few friends recently went to the city I went to college in for work and I ordered then to go to my favorite sandwich shop and brunch restaurant. :)

  4. Han: 1. YES. you are correct. but its a 4 by 4..4 meat patties, 4 cheese slices. i told this to stephen. he gagged. 2. i dont know! lol. i dont watch the BBT, but its a chain resturaunt and there are a lot of them so i wouldnt be surprised. 3. I hope you get to visit!!

  5. @Lyndsay- when you havnt been home in a year, in one of the states that has THE best food, eating the entire time is necessary to hold me over until i come back the next time. Because lets be totally real for a moment..the food here in the UK is just not the same.

  8. We don't have the Cheesecake Factory back home in SA, but I'm a fan of Big Bang, so know it well :) haha. All that food makes me hungry!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sounds perfect to me! It's not a trip to California if you don't go to In n Out or eat Mexican food! Stephen is not gonna want to go back!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I've never been to Cali, so I can't give you any more places to go - but American food is the BEST to come back to! Stephen may never want to go home. And please, PLEASE send me some of the tan you're going to get. I hate being albino until June.

  11. MMMMM In-n-out!! When I mention 'animal-style' here, the Europeans just don't get it and by the look in their eyes, clearly they think I'm making a sexual reference...instead of talking about animal-style fries. And those garlic roll, tri-tip and baja chicken salad from Woodranch...mmmm!! Don't even get me started on the Cheesecake Factory! Sadly my Dutchman only knows it from the Big Bang Theory and wants to 'go find Penny' lol. And the words 'Laguna Beach' and 'Crystal Cove' instantly casts a grin and warm fuzzy feeling all over. Thanks for bringin' a ray of sunshine and snippets of home to my day today :) I miss home! Enjoy it for all of us Californians overseas :)

    CupcakesOMG!

  14. I literally lived at the Cheesecake factory and slept at Taco Bells when I was in the States!!! Pity we don't have either here in South Africa.

Guess what????? Our KFC serves "pap" as a side dish. Pap being a traditional porridge made from mielie-meal (ground maize or other grain). For more about "pap" check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pap_(food)

Oh and MOST South Africans regardless of decent enjoy "pap"!!!!!

  15. You are a girl after my own heart--all my intinaries revolve around food--Brussels was how much chocolate could I fit in 4 days, a lot!

And Laguna BEach--like where LC began, remember watching that on MTV--the memories!

    ReplyDelete
  16. May sounds seriously EPIC. Stephen will fall head-over-heels in love the America in no time. PROMISE! hehe ;)

  17. I'm drooling all over my keyboard. All of my favourite places are on your list. I'm from Agoura too! I would add shopping at the "new" Trader Joes near the Kanan off ramp to the list. I was absolutely giddy when I walked in there last summer.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This post definitely made me hungry! hahahaaha. How long are you going to be in California? I hope you have fun on your trip. Try going down to Napa, wine tasting there is awesome, plus there's this wine castle that is just soooo amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sounds like a perfect plan! I always hear great things about Javiers but have yet to try it... silly me. I'll be putting that on my to-do list next time I'm in Cali!

    ReplyDelete
  29. What about Jamba Juice? See's Candy? Soup Plantation!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Smuggle back some good stuff and re-sell it to the sad people living in Europe (ie: me).

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, this is familiar! Both times I've been Home (capital H home, you know) since we moved over I've planned everything around meals- as in, "Mom, you need to meet me at the airport with Chik-fil-A" "oh, friend I haven't seen in a few years, sure I'd love to get together, how 'bout Chinese?" or just sitting at Pita Pit and Jittery Joes (same day- that's right) by myself, happy as a clam. I even fussed at my mom when she kept cooking at home, telling her I didn't fly all the way back to the States for her cooking (and she's pretty good!). Oh, and when I connected in Newark you can bet I got FOUR Crumbs cupcakes in the airport, and tore those up. MYSELF. Food I miss mostly? Good chinese food and brunch. Oh, dear lord, to have some fancy breakfast I didn't have to cook myself...
Thanks, Megan. Thanks for bringing up US food.

  32. Oh, as I clicked "publish", a memory of jumping out of my sister's (stopped, come on, people) van and running across the QuikTrip parking lot when I saw a Church's sign... don't come between me and my honey butter biscuits.

  33. I just booked a long weekend to LA in 2 weeks. Couldn't be more excited to eat In-N-Out Burger and spend time with my brother, preferably eating In-N-Out Burgers.

    ReplyDelete
  39. HAH!! you sound just like me!! When my time in Europe was coming to an end I had where I was going to eat for lunch & dinner planned out for the next two weeks after returning home. Not only where I was going to eat, but also... what I was going to order.

You should probably pencil in a pit stop in Austin to see Shalyn & I.. just saying!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Javier's at Crystal Cove is DELICIOUS! Best Mexican food I've ever had. And I live in Tucson... very close to the border. haha.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Where is the Louisiana itinerary? Did I miss it? Or should we just fly to y'all?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm going to visit my fam next week. All the restaurants that you listed in our home town (wood ranch, yamato, etc.) are on my list while visiting too- since I move in less than two weeks. Too bad i'm only going to be in Agoura one night!

I wonder if I can fit them all in? Otherwise, I have no idea which one(s) to choose!?!

    ReplyDelete
  43. This looks so delicious. I'm jealous of all these places and I'm not even going.

    ReplyDelete

  52. When you're in Santa Barbara... make sure to go to the tasting rooms in the "FUNKZONE." I know right!? But the wine and the atmosphere at all three rooms are amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I haven't heard of more than half these places and I live in the States. I blame the South yet again for me missing out on things!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Omg I think I love this post solely because I know Italia deli and the Agoura deli are the best ever and I drive there from Burbank just to eat cuz I miss it!

  56. this post just gave me a massive craving for everything. as soon as i got off the plane from when i studied abroad in england, i demanded that the first stop be in-n-out. like honestly. why can't those be everywhere!? and then i proceeded to eat like a fat ass everywhere possible. as if i had been deprived of food for six months...i mean i was deprived of the most deliciously, fatty american foods. and i was so happy to get my hands on mexican food again! and yes i'm counting chipotle. along with california burritos. only americans could add french fries (not chips, dammit!) to everything :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'll be happy to eat some food with you. and to watch Stephen's eyes bug out when he watched you in your true form. greatness it will be.

    ReplyDelete

I was distraught :( enjoy those animal style fries and tritip sandy for me. Jealous!!! Also the thought of Javier's makes my mouth water. There is no good Mexican food in France!

  66. I was hanging with a guy friend yesterday (a guy I really like..!) and he knows I'm jobless so he told me to come hang with him at one of his outdoor jobs (yeah...pretty sweet deal there) and when he was done working he made an excuse to go somewhere and asked if I wanted to join (duh, you dumb dummy). Then we finished that somehow 2hour errand down the street and he decided to take me to DownTownFullerton (since I had no plans and he wanted to do me a favor and keep me company...oh the excuses) to Kentro Kitchen and I thought of you! It's a modern greek spot and it is freaking delicious!!! You must add it to your list.. Stephen must know and he must go!!

And yes, I completely turned this into a life update but it was still informative and in alignment with your post.

Oh btw, what else do we do in southern Cali except drive, eat and think about eating? i'm pretty sure excercise is in there too but I'm talking about the average southerncali girl. Be no ashamed girl!
