What does a brush and candy have in common?

the answer is..
absolutely nothing.

Except maybe I need them both to survive.

I received an UH-mazing little care package
from the saucy Brazilian living in the USA..
Knowing my love for all things unhealthy,
she sent me some tasty treats via snail mail.

I swear,
you bloggers are the bomb.com

Ive said it before..
and ill say it again..

you.complete.me.

there were more..
but i ate them as soon as I opened the box...

Guys..
my hair is killing my brush.
you read that right..
not my brush is killing my hair..
but my hair is beating my brush to a pulp.
It is so abusive.
I hear my brush crying as my hair grabs it by the neck and chokes it..
but there is nothing I can do..
sometimes you just have to let the ones you love make their own mistakes..

I don't know how this metaphor got started..
its taken a dark turn though..
I should stop watching so many lifetime movies.

sad face.

to cheer you up though I have the winner of the Loveleigh giveaway!!

Yay steph!
E mail me your information and Leigh will get that necklace sent to you!!

The wheels on the bus

 take me to school
(you have to say that in tune with the title)
actually you have to sing it.
it's better that way.

I discovered something fantastic.
there is a bus that picks up only a block away from my house
and drives to my side of campus.
Yes, I pay a pound 60 to take a bus from one side of campus
to the other side.
there are approximately three stops between my house, and my stop.
Uni West Entrance, Paddling Pool, The Tennis Centre,
then Uni South Entrance (where I get off).
Those are the stops.

I get a little embarrassed when I clearly have been waiting for the bus
(time that i could have spent walking to my side of campus)
then get off three stops later..
aka 20 seconds later.
I feel those British eyes on me as I get on,
then immediately off the bus.
Judging me and my youthful legs that I should use
to walk the fifteen minutes from my house to campus.
But you know what?
I am from LA
and
nobody walks in LA..EH!
(you know that song?? nobody walks in la, walking in la..)

started and ended in song.
that's how you do it.
a blog post that starts and ends in song that is..

during winter..before the discovery of the magical bus..and yes, that is a leaf in my hand..

good girls get rewarded

So i just finished a presentation on my current research
in front of my research supervisor
and i still have the shakes.
And sort of want to take a nap.
but im eating chips instead.

Remember my blog friend Leigh?
Who's etsy items i wear frequently?

necklace by Leigh
cowl by leigh

Well she has been nice enough to give you a piece she made JUST for you.

*******
ello, it's leigh. just perfecting my british accent for you all, since i am across the pond & all.

megan was so kind to invite me over into her blog space, so i figured it would only be appropriate that i introduced myself.
you see, i'm sort of a super hero. i pretend to be an innocent middle school teacher during the day, but -- by night -- i design things for the necks of the rich and famous.
ahem, megan.
that and force my handsome sweater-vest-wearing husband to take pictures of me in my high fashion wardrobe -- which is mostly from target.

but, like any good public servant, i don't discriminate.
& i designed this lovely, sunny "you are my sunshine" necklace for YOU.

to enter (separate comments for each):
mandatory: 1. be a follower of across the pond and leave a comment
2. follow Leigh's blog
3. tweet about the giveaway (@meganpursley @smeyleigh)

good luck!!!

To entertain you for the weekend

In case you were wondering if i was actually as strangely inappropriate
slash awkward in person
here is a video my brother and I made.
Long before I left for England..
clearly..
I didn't fly home just to make this video
then fly back.
Although that is something i would probably do.
Please don't be jealous of my incredible singing voice..
we cannot all be as gifted as myself.
I also will not be offended if after 20 seconds you turn off the video.
More importantly,
My brother is currently single.
He is 21.
I am taking applications to date him.
Pimping him out.
Like the time he charged his friends $50 to take me on a date.
I know...
I am totally worth at least $60..

A British BBQ

Hey guys,
remember that time blogger shut down
and deleted every one's comments and posts?
that was fun.

I found myself going,
"Oh crap, it looks like I have no comments,
now people are not going to like me, or think other people don't like me"
and then myself said to myself
"Megan, you are ridiculous,
and you are one blog post away from developing an emotional health problem"
I thought that was slightly dramatic of me..

A couple weeks back Sophie asked me to come over for a BBQ..
when I first heard about Brits having BBQs
I thought maybe it was code word for something different..
like drinking alcohol.
Because lets be honest..
They don't even really have BBQ sauce..
And I haven't seen one BBQ restaurant in this whole country yet.
Not to mention lack of BBQ weather..
But no, BBQ means BBQ..
sans BBQ sauce..
sausages, burgers, etc..
all there.

So I came baring magazines
(because that's what you bring to a BBQ)
and watched George and Sophie set up the little BBQ outside
with blankets, and pillows and wine.
Then it started to rain.
(shocking, I know)
So we moved the BBQ INSIDE the house..
no joke.
Now THAT is a British BBQ.

and in case you are wondering..
yes,
Sophie is basically my only friend here..

I expect you at the arrival gate with bells on and taco bell/cheetos in hand.
And I dont come back to England until July 1st..
then you can weep.

FRET NOT
I will be blogging from CA.
Probably more than usual.
lucky you.

And if I havnt overloaded you enough..
I am guest posting at Megan's blog today..
the sweetest little slice of southern charm ever.
I am talking about the three things that best describe me..
it gets pretty personal over there..
just to warn you.
You might find yourself being like
"wow Megs/Meg/Meggers you really let it all hang out don't you?"

You also might be wondering
why the heck are you guest posting so much this month?
I think it is because May starts with M

The Missings of American traditions- replaced by some British pride

so.
apparently.
cinco de mayo does not exist in England...
Okay..it DOES exist..
because may 5th exists everywhere..
as far as I know..
BUT cinco de mayo does not exist here..
along with Mexican food.
that doesn't exist either..
I know..
I don't know how I survive either..

I put on my sombrero and tried to sell tacos on the corner but no one would bite.

I didn’t do that.

But now I kinda wish I did.
Because I actually think people would of dug it..
or gave me the “crazy american” look.
which I am used to.

Coffee #blates with Sophie fill my gossip needs frequently.
a little aussie flair to brighten up my days.
I think Aussie's and Americans are a good match.
Instead of giving my mum/mom a real life hug, I met up with Sophie
who also happens to be miles from her mum on mothers day.

Georges gift to Sophie..so sweet

my gift to myself..I am so romantic

and instead of the annual Sunday brunch in Malibu with the fam
I went to a traditional British carvery.
aka buffet style thanksgiving..
and we all know how i feel about buffets.
Although I'm not totally sold on Yorkshire pudding..
its not bread..
and its not a doughnut..
its not sweet..
or really savory..
it’s confused.

Im baaaaaaaackkkkk

I am back,
ready to fill you with my warm embrace.
You are safe now,
in my arms.

Did you just LOVE the little gems I had for you last week?
Or are you slightly traumatized?
I think either reaction is good, personally.

I don't know if you guys know this..
but Friday there was this little event called The Royal Wedding.

Haven't heard of it?
Its where The Prince of England
GRANDSON to the queen,
i am ashamed of my mistake (said son previously).
im such an american.

thanks bloggers for auto-correcting me.

gets married to a girl he fell in love with.
THEN she gets to be a princess.
And when the Queen dies in like 50 more years
(because apparently this line lives a long time)
The Prince and Princess become King and Queen.

I swear I did not make this ish up.
I didn't steal it from a Disney movie either.

It's a pretty casual event
with like 3000 people actually invited
and over a million attending via tent.
I am not one in a million.
I attended via Sophie's living room.

necklace by the amazing Leigh of Very Loveleigh

necklace : Very Loveleigh perfect wedding day attire

sophie doesnt take bad pictures..and it makes me sick.

Vogue came to the wedding too. duh.

Now I can say I lived in England during the Royal Wedding..
and during the university tuition being raised riots.

nice.
