Tribeca

grocery store hat, Michael Kors coat, infinity scarf c/o beeTa

you want our babies.

the glory realm.

that seems like a normal size for an omelette

british bacon=less fat. I just don't understand its purpose.

So I mentioned in this post about this NYC style diner placed in Glasgow Scotland's west end.
Then I got a question from a fellow blogger asking me how the food was,
and I was like, handtoforehead, duh. The food is obviously the most important part.
I think I failed to mention it though, because it was a bit disappointing.
But then I was like no, NO, American diner, I'm not letting you go down without a fight just because you don't have actual American style bacon.
Although that does give you a major slap in the face (not on wrist) because bacon is our number one food group.
obviously.

But, I decided though I needed to go back a second time to give a proper report,
so naturally I sent Stephen a fb message while he was at work saying:

“we need to go back to tribeca and eat because i need to do another blog post dedicated to my feelings about the food there. so its purely work related and not at all about how I'm hungry and want to sit under the American flag again”

So this morning we went back and I ordered the FIVE egg omelette with a bagel and cream cheese (instead of the toast that came with it..clearly the bagel is the better option) AND a side of hashed browns.
The English waitress looked at me like i was crazy, until she realized what my accent was, and then she was like “oh, alright.”

She didn't say that, but I could tell she thought it.

Stephen got the Eggs Benedict..anything with hollandaise sauce on it should be safe.
Tribeca totally redeemed itself today, if not on portion size alone.

That omelette is the size of my head.

Do not get the french toast unless you want three giant slabs of doughnuts. Or the big breakfast with eggs, sausage, british bacon, tomato's, mushrooms, hashed browns and toast..
unless you're British.

Then we went and got ice cream cones.

because this is America.

  1. I buy Oscar Mayer bacon from the supermarket. There's no getting round it, America has the best bacon!

    And hollandaise sauce = drooool

  2. Hahahaha! Seriously! I just call British bacon 'ham' and let it go. It's not worth the pain that comes when the waitress gives you salty red undercooked jerky.

I love how Americans just know how to eat and eat. You made us proud!

  3. obviously we will be visiting this place if and when (but hopefully when) i make my visit.

  4. yes i want your babies.

i totally pulled the 'i need to blog about it' card the other night when i wanted mexican food from my favorite hole-in-the-wall-health-violator-restaurant and adam wanted subway or something unnecessarily healthy.

glad to see stephen is more receptive to 'work'

    i should've married an irishman.

  6. Oh boy. That is one major omelet. I have been known to scarf down some major breakfast eats....I think I might be in heaven there. Except for the bacon. I like my bacon extra crispy & full of fat. ;)

  10. that is one massive omelet. and reminds me of a restaurant in San Diego, Hash House. check out their website... check out their portions. It'll make you want to jump on a plane back to the West Coast for sure! :]

  11. Are there even food groups that aren't bacon?

    No.

I'm obviously going to have to take a two hour lunch break so I can enjoy some bacon. Work HAS to understand. This is America.

  12. That definitely is the right size omelete. I never believe restaurants when they says it's a 3 egg omelette, when clearly it's at least twice that amount (in America). You reminded me that I've been wanting eggs, i'll have to put that on my list of things to do...btw, i've tried spelling omelette at least 5 different ways, spell checker doesn't like any of them.

  16. I would like three giant slabs of donut. Please expect to see me at that diner soon... with a slew of hot Scottish (Irish?-- seriously, why can't I remember where you are?) men.

never been a bacon fan. let's still be friends. I mean think about it, you can have any bacon that comes on something I order.

  28. i'm pretty sure i referred to my highschool bf as the strawberries and bacon of my life.... luckily bacon is still around but he isn;t.

    ReplyDelete
  29. like i said before, if you find yourself with child i'm on the next plane to scotland to come rear it for you. cause we both know i'd be better. although we do both like sleep...so...tough call.

and good god that is a ridiculous amount of food. tell stephen his choice of eggs benedict has redeemed him from his poor choice in pet. but i'm still confused why he wouldn't choose the orca.

  30. i do want those babies. let me know when they go up on ebay?

    ReplyDelete
  42. ice cream cooones yaaay, now that is so american!! is bacon really american? i don't like bacon much, but since other countries think america is fat, i don't want bacon to be american. of course... that's probably exactly why other countries think we're fat. because we are. because of bacon. me? no i'm italian. i eat salami. duh.

    ReplyDelete
