I "met" Heather a few months back..
And basically we are living the same lives, except on different continents..
She is a Los Angeles girl,
who married an Irishman..
she eats burgers..
and she dances...
as in ballet..
like real dancing..
okay so I don't dance..
like, you don't want to see me dance..
it's uncomfortable..
except in High school when grinding was okay..
and didn't involve real coordination..
okay actually that is still uncomfortable..
and I'm not married to my Irish lover..
yet..
When she contacted me I proceeded to ask her about the process of marrying someone who is not a US citizen.
what? it's good to be knowledgeable...

HI there! My name is Heather and I am a blogging, burger-loving, bad-ass ballerina. I write a blog called Lilac and Lace, which focuses on my life in Los Angeles with my Irish hubby. It's my personal, digital space for sharing my daily adventures, failed fashion attempts, artistic endeavors and a very serious quest for the perfect burger in the City of Angels. I dance in several regional dance companies, I enjoy making crafts and scrapbooking, and naturally, I love finding new blogs to read! I do have a severely ignored etsy shop (because apparently it's a requirement for every blogger under the age of 40 to have an online shop) where I share the things I enjoy making, such as tutus, hair accessories and yarn wreaths. I love 1940's fashion, 1960's films and the music of George Gershwin...Let's be friends!
so if you need some more posts about fast food and hot Irish man candy
go here

Megan, I thought you would give us some big news...Anyway, thank you for sharing this blog! I love ballet (but like you I would refrain from public performances...) and I'm going to check it out...
ReplyDeleteLove her! I've actually visited her blog a couple of times before. :) Oh and hopefully texas girls can marry irishmen too, not just LA girls! ;) hahaha
ReplyDeleteDancers are the ish. Just sayin'

ReplyDeletelove her blog. course, i used to teach ballet, so i'm partial to ballerinas.
I'm a dancer who also married an Irish man! He's actually half English and half Irish but whatever.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do love food. Wow. How are we not blogging friends already?
after seeing those cute little girls on ellen singer 'super bass' it has become my life goal to have little british children.
ReplyDeletei am exploring my options now.

ReplyDeletenot your husband...yet??? mmkay, i smell a cliffhanger. or maybe it's just the stench of throwing my life away on a corporate job. it can be hard to delineate sometimes.

ReplyDeleteim going to have to go stalk her blog now!
OH and at a 10th grade dance, my old boyfriend and i were told to relax with the way we were dancing. i specifically remember it was "Juvenile's--Back that Ass up"
i was backin it up. maybe too much
xoxoxo
Megan wanted me to announce it for her here: she's 3 months pregnant with twins and will be marrying the Irishman at the Hollywood Bowl in 5 months. And you're all invited! Get excited.
ReplyDeleteYou have the best new friends on your blog!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend married to an Irish man but she lives in Seattle. I also used to work for a half American- half Irish couple... also in Seattle. Apparently it's the "thing" to do these days. But really in all seriousness... I get beyond hyped when I find another American married to an Argentine living in Argentina. In fact, I'll take an English- speaker of any sort married to an Argentine. We've created a club even... Desperate Ladies of Buenos Aires. Sadly there are 3 members at the moment. And one's Australian and one's me.
ReplyDeleteIts fun reading the comments to see what people comment on. I believe the 'yet' you said is pulling ahead in popularity. haha
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of her, so I'll have to check her out. Stay warm over there and I hope you find a fashionable warm coat. When I was in the UK last year, I froze my bum off w/3 layers on.

Love Heather! But I'm going to need Part 3 ASAP!! I need to know if "yet" means "we're engaged"... wishful thinking, no? -Alyssa
ReplyDeletehe he. i just adore you.
ReplyDeletecheers.
Is there any way to make an American man Irish? Because I think I'd rather be living in Ireland, but with my husband (I like him a lot), but he could have an Irish accent.
ReplyDeleteToo much to ask for?
Thanks for the intro..never met a bad ass burger loving Los Angeles girl married to an Irishmen that I didn't love:-)
ReplyDeleteI love dancing too though I am sure shes way way better than I am! Sounds like a fabulous girl...will head over and say hello!
You were mentioned and tagged in my most recent blog post! : ) I hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThere couldn't be anything better than a bad ass burger eating ballerina! Love it!!! (and I happen to be cooking burgers right now)

ReplyDeleteGoing to check out her blog now too
Going to check out her blog now!
ReplyDeleteMarrying an non-citizen is stressful, expensive and a long process. Also, nerve-wracking. So glad it's all over though! I think that with citizens from the UK is easier though. Anyway, just giving my two cents. :)
Sorry if I sounded too negative in my comment. I just don't deal well with immigration offices.
ReplyDeleteShe seems pretty cool!!!
