Weekend view

It is Autumn in England now. After about oh..2 days of summer.

the closest ill get to mexican food..quesadilla with Tzatziki sauce..right...

A number of INCREDIBLY important things occurred this weekend

1. I finished my Masters dissertation.

2. I ate my weight in sugar

3. I slept until 2pm

4. I made chili and had it for dinner..twice..in the same night..

5. I went into Zara and coveted their Autumn collection then proceeded to pretend to buy everything by going online at home and putting all the things I wanted into my online basket.
Does anyone else do that?

Just me?

I really  dont think $1400 worth of Zara clothes and a British puppy for Christmas is too much to ask for.

Did I mention I'm staying in the UK for another year or two?

no?
oops.

  1. Congratulations on finishing your dissertation! I'm about 75% finished with mine and my faculty adviser is PICKING IT APART ... makes me sad, but deep down I know it's helping. So I feel your pain, and I am quite jealous that you're done and I'm not. :)

  2. does a british puppy drink with his paw out....or bark with an accent? if so, i want a british puppy too!

and yes, i'm currently reciving emails from Victoria's Secret, Sephora and Nordstroms that I "left a few items in my basket"...those being items I want but can't afford! Who says adults can't still play pretend?!

  3. I am pretty sure I ate my weight in sugar this weekend too. Damn cupcakes. Love the pics. Who is this man, btw?

And you are NOT alone. I put stuff into my online shopping basket all the time. Then I see the price and I am like...DAMNIT. I def don't think it's too much to ask for Christmas.

    xoxo.

    5. We talked about that on Twitter. Love their Fall collection too. Oh and I did that today on the Zara online website.

And you're staying in Europe ? Yay for Europe.

    Bisous !

  5. That food looks really good! I'm ready for Autumn in Virginia.

  6. I totally do that with shopping. :) It's ok. And how exciting! Maybe I should move to Europe. That sounds like fun.

  7. HAHA! I thought I was the only one who online shopped without buying anything. My husband thinks it's rediculous!

    ReplyDelete
  8. That's one of my favorite things to do with online shopping.. every once in a while I buy it and then act surprised when my husband asks me where it all came from. "I slipped."

I think you deserve sugar if you finished your dissertation... it even sounds like a nasty word!

  9. hahah i always fill up my cart and then just close the browser. its very therapeutic. just dont do it at west elm...they send you harassing emails reminding you to 'take another look'. if i wanted it i would buy it! jeezzz aggressive marketing. take it down a notch.

anyhoo a HUGE congrats to you for finishing up your masters that does deserve a lotta sugar + greek/mexican quesadillas (that combo sounds pretty good to me). AND i didnt really think you would be coming back to the states for quite a while you seem to be doing well for yourself in the UK so congrats! :) xo

  12. i online window shop like its my job! no. seriously. it's how I kill a LOT of my time these days. that and coming up with justifications for purchase.

  13. 1. While I love Tzatziki, it does not belong on a quesadilla.
    2. CONGRATS ON FINISHING YOUR MASTERS!! You fancy neuroscientist, you.
    3. I think it's awesome you're staying in the UK! The longer you're away from American food, the more you'll love it when you return one day!

  14. Did I mention im coming to GB in a year or two to eat/be with you?

    ReplyDelete
  15. megdog i love the fact that you called it Autumn rather than "Fall" ...your totally becoming british hah.

love the photos and love the fact that you are staying for TWO MORE YEARS!

  17. Congrats on finishing your dissertation! It sounds like a great weekend. I think we all add tons of things to the shopping cart. And slowly and painfully remove most of them when we actually checkout...

  18. Congratulations on finishing the dissertation! A British puppy is well deserved now. Glad to hear you're staying in the UK, you certainly seem to be enjoying yourself over there.

Although I am terribly sorry you are being deprived of "real" Mexican food. Truly a tragedy.

  19. Hahah I always put them in my basket and then never buy them. Makes me feel good though.

  20. Congrats on finishing your Masters dissertation - you rock! Also, you are so not the only one that does that.. I may or may not have a few online baskets full of clothes haha

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've never heard of Zara before but I think its completely reasonable to ask for that much in clothes. Now, $1500 is a questionable amount, but you have it way under so...

And even though it's still morning for me, that ice cream makes me want ice cream.

  22. I do the saaame thing when online shopping at my favorite, yet super pricy, online stores! :) I don't feel as alone now haha. Love your pictures, sounds exciting that you'll be staying there for awhile!

  23. It's hard for me to imagine it being autumn ANYWHERE in the world right now... what with our record breaking 110 degree day yesterday. UGH. Texas.

And I don't suppose your lenghthier stay in the UK has anything to do with your hot new Irish boyfriend? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Good. You'll be there when we visit next year. You can meet the whole fam damily. xoxo

  25. Must you always post amazing pictures of the amazing food you eat? Great, now I'm starving.

So does this mean no Scotland?

    amy day to day

  26. I do the same thing with online shopping... and then when I really want to buy something, I get rid of some stuff in my basket so it's less scary. But it's hard throwing things out!
I think it's super fun that you're staying in the UK with your lover. can't wait for all your adventures!

    ReplyDelete
  27. So its growing on you, yes? And I do online shop. Very much.
Only throw in the fact that I have no money.
    I online window shop.
It makes my world go round.

  28. I'm kind of happy that you have a hot Irish lover... but I thought the deal was: Bring Him Back To The States!!!!

Oh well... I guess I'll have to find my way over to your side of the world.

I love your white blazer, by the way! I guess I can say one nice thing in this comment :)

  29. Ummm, that is not Mexican. And I'm truly insulted that England doesn't require Mexican food to be present.

I can't come to W2 now. Unless I bring the Mex food with me? Yes?

    Lovely idea.

    ReplyDelete
  30. when I visit.. yes, when... should I bring you a jar of california sand and sunshine?

    Or maybe a taco?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Get used to the two days of summer (if you are lucky) if you are moving any further north!! Good job cheap flights to the rest of Europe are available in the UK.

Get yourself to Spain or Greece for a dose of sunshine as a treat for finishing your dissertation! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. I guess the grass really is always greener on the other side. You're mourning the loss of summer while I'm over here in Georgia DYING from the heat! I am SO ready for autumn! Oh, and how do you eat so much sugary goodness and stay so slim? I'm super jealous!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. i wanna visit youuuu. i've never been to scotland!

And now I'm craving ice cream... :-)

  41. Oh man, I'm totally jealous that you live in GB, but I would totally miss the Mexican Food. Especially after living in Texas, I hear it's not good anywhere else!

Congrats on finishing your dissertation! I think that definitely warrants $1400 in Zara clothes!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Zara makes my heart flutter! I seriously love it.

I feel your pain about Mexican food! The hubs and I ordered a mexican sampler plate here in Germany and it came with POTATO WEDGES and Mozzarella Sticks. I stared at the plate in confusion upon delivery.

Still, that food looked pretty delicious! And congrats once again on your dissertation and all of your new steps in life!

  53. Yay for finishing your dissertation! That's awesome.

And yes ma'am, I sure do the pretend shopping online. What bothers me is when it's titled Wish List. I don't know, it's just upsetting. I feel like someone's laughing at me, like " HA! yeah I bet you do WISH you could buy that. In your dreams." Although putting items in my "shopping cart" and not actually buying it is the same thing but it just doesn't feel as mean. That totally made sense, right. Ok. this is ridiculously long! Sorry.

    Enjoy your week Megan!

  60. I am soooo nosy and saw the picture of the half profile of your guy eating ice cream, only I didn't know who in the world he was. So I stalked your page and looked down and saw the post where you came out of the relationship closet and I almost fell off my stable couch.

    HE IS SO CUTE GIRL!
    And Irish! Really?
Did you know that I pray for my GERMAN/IRISH husband...

Yeah I know I have really big prayers but God knows I'll take whatever I can get from Him.

But it never hurts to make your intentions known right?
And somehow this has turned back into me talking about myself.

CONGRATS and He is adorable and rugged and man looking which is what I think is the idea look for a man. I'm excited for you!! And your movie to Scotland??? what in the world. Being a fellow Californian and after eating authentic Mexican food in Mexico I can say that a quesadilla with tzatziki sauce is not Mexican. However, it does sound good :) And I've never had quesadillas with tomatoes/salsa before. Looks yummy! Ugh. You and all your yummy looking food pictures!
