so.
apparently.
cinco de mayo does not exist in England...
Okay..it DOES exist..
because may 5th exists everywhere..
as far as I know..
BUT cinco de mayo does not exist here..
along with Mexican food.
that doesn't exist either..
I know..
I don't know how I survive either..
I put on my sombrero and tried to sell tacos on the corner but no one would bite.
I didn’t do that.
I put on my sombrero and tried to sell tacos on the corner but no one would bite.
I didn’t do that.
But now I kinda wish I did.
Because I actually think people would of dug it..
or gave me the “crazy american” look.
which I am used to.
Coffee #blates with Sophie fill my gossip needs frequently.
a little aussie flair to brighten up my days.
I think Aussie's and Americans are a good match.
Instead of giving my mum/mom a real life hug, I met up with Sophie
who also happens to be miles from her mum on mothers day.

| my gift to myself..I am so romantic |
and instead of the annual Sunday brunch in Malibu with the fam
I went to a traditional British carvery.
aka buffet style thanksgiving..
and we all know how i feel about buffets.
Although I'm not totally sold on Yorkshire pudding..
its not bread..
and its not a doughnut..
its not sweet..
or really savory..
it’s confused.

is a carvery anything like those restaurants here where they basically bring out meat in it's natural form (aka it's still the size of a cow0? or not so much? weird that I asked?
ReplyDeleteyour mother's day gift is really fab. It's a good thing my mom knows I have no money, and doesn't let me spend it on here.... cause I have issues shopping for other people and not getting myself a lil summin summin'.
I need to go read your blate's blog.
CarissaExplainsItAll
I wasn't with my mom on Mother's Day, and actually haven't been in years. I don't ever think it's gonna make me feel like a thug until the actual day rolls around and then I kick my own ass for not planning ahead and buying a ticket.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Yorkshire pudding. I need my food to commit. Not be all wishy washy.
Aw, I would totally stop at your random taco stand! haha
ReplyDeleteGlad you had someone to be with on mother's day ;)
i feel you girl - here in my little italian town we have no "ethnic" food at all...and when i go home i binge on mexican, japanese, thai and american food as much as possible! and it's hard to be away from the family but i am truly grateful that i can skype them whenever i want!
ReplyDeleteMexican food in the UK sucks! The tortillas we have are nowhere near as good as proper corn tortillas. I lived in Merida for 3 months when I was 19 and loved it! Never experienced proper cinco de mayo but was in San Francisco a week ago and they were preparing for it and I was gutted that we couldn't stick around to experience it! x
ReplyDeleteyou should have totally done a taco stand... i'm sure it would have been a hit ;).
ReplyDeleteCute pictures lady!
Food that leaves you confused is awkward. In Chinese culture we have these pork-filled buns. But the buns are a sweet dough. And the pork is savory. My mouth never knows what to think.
ReplyDeleteHappy GIRLS! You both always look like you are having tons of fun. Best Blates ever, I do suppose.
ReplyDeleteAnd Thanksgiving food for Mother's Day? Where do I sign up??
I'm a new follower here! That's great that you at least got to spend the day with a friend and it sounds like you had fun. I totally think you should have sold the tacos! Maybe you can do something for like the July 4th there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great watch and beautiful ring. Very sad about the Mexican food, but I am still jeal you are in the land of The Royal Wedding. I know I should get over it(or shouldn't have ever been under it) but I can't! Crazy American looks for me too.
ReplyDeleteI will send you taco seasoning! I think i might die without mexican food...
ReplyDeleteis that a little dramatic?
Sabrina Says
Don't worry friend, I've been eating enough Mexican food for the both of us. xoxo
ReplyDeleteAw so happy you were able to spend the day with Sophie! And no mexican food....CRIME
ReplyDeleteps. when do you come to CA? cause we could possibly meet up since I'll be home in June!
The VERY FIRST thing that I did when I got back from London was go to a Mexican restaurant and have tacos and a margarita. No Kidding. I was also over there for 4th of July. Weird feeling.
ReplyDeleteya'll are cute friends.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't read anything past the no Mexican food...
ReplyDeleteomg get out! yorkshire puddings are the best thing to ever happen to british cuisine! i was seriously addicted when i work at blackheath and i always had them for lunch haha.
ReplyDeletehaha in that photo of your watch it looks like im shoving my ring into the photo to get some more attention. selfish ring! it has a mind of its own! x
p.s that "omg get out" i just said up there was totally america. pretend im imitating you haha x
ReplyDeleteCurious what she's snapping a pic of in the last one.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked they don't celebrate May 5th, I mean, they do like beer there right?! That's what it's all about any way, can't believe they wouldn't want to capitalize on that.
I would die without mexican food. Literally. And I mean LITERALLY.
ReplyDeleteI probably eat that more than any other food out there.
Mexican food for breakfast? Yes.
Mexican food for lunch? Yes.
Mexican food for dinner? Yes.
All three in the same day? Best. Day. Ever.
No mexican???? I don't know what I'd do with myself. Seriously. I am really sad for you right now.
ReplyDeletecinco de mayo...spanish for the nino...!
ReplyDeletewhat?

I love that ring. And I share your frustration with yorkshire pudding...WTF!
ReplyDeleteholidays in Britian... what ever will we do?
ReplyDeleteBut I do love the bracelet and watch! You really ARE a romantic aren't you?!
I'm really serious here: how do you live without Mexican? I just don't get it. Do y'all have tacos there? Or salsa? Queso dip? Anything???
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty ring! :)

ReplyDeleteI don't really get cinco de mayo. What exactly is it?!
I'm a southern California girl, too, and I would miss Mexican food SO much! You're a saint!
ReplyDeleteyou are so cute! great photos. i love the ring in this post. gorggggeous. <3 EverRubyGirl.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI agree with Michaela... no Mexican food?? That is a crime! How do you live?! Especially if the substitute is figgy pudding? Wait, that's not what it's called... (scrolling back up to post)... Yorkshire pudding. Same difference.
ReplyDeleteAHh haha what an aweomse blog! And now I want a burrito. OLE!
ReplyDeletePink Chinchilla
that ring is unreal.
ReplyDeleteyou girls are too cute.
i can't live without the Mexican food (margaritas!). it would be very difficult to leave Malibu...I'm guessing you'll be back to visit soon.
