Hey guys,
remember that time blogger shut down
and deleted every one's comments and posts?
that was fun.
I found myself going,
"Oh crap, it looks like I have no comments,
now people are not going to like me, or think other people don't like me"
and then myself said to myself
"Megan, you are ridiculous,
and you are one blog post away from developing an emotional health problem"
and you are one blog post away from developing an emotional health problem"
I thought that was slightly dramatic of me..
A couple weeks back Sophie asked me to come over for a BBQ..
when I first heard about Brits having BBQs
A couple weeks back Sophie asked me to come over for a BBQ..
when I first heard about Brits having BBQs
I thought maybe it was code word for something different..
like drinking alcohol.
Because lets be honest..
They don't even really have BBQ sauce..
And I haven't seen one BBQ restaurant in this whole country yet.
Not to mention lack of BBQ weather..
like drinking alcohol.

But no, BBQ means BBQ..
sans BBQ sauce..
sausages, burgers, etc..
all there.
So I came baring magazines
(because that's what you bring to a BBQ)
and watched George and Sophie set up the little BBQ outside
with blankets, and pillows and wine.
Then it started to rain.
(shocking, I know)
So we moved the BBQ INSIDE the house..
no joke.
Now THAT is a British BBQ.

no BBQ sauce? not sure if I'd survive...
ReplyDeletehaha wow. i cant imagine the brits getting into a bbq aussie style. i hope you showed them hows its done :) x
ReplyDeleteoh man, i can relate to your life in so many ways..italians do not like anything salty/sweet so bbq is out of the question basically. but they have "grilling parties" where the meat and awesome side dishes are involved. looks like it was fun anyway!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I could ever live in a country with no BBQ sauce.
ReplyDeleteNice photos, Sophie's hair looks like its about to catch fire on the 2nd one--> pretty cool
the photo, not the hair getting on fire
ReplyDeletethat last picture with the wine implies that you were right- british bbq's mean an excuse to drink alcohol.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was there drinking wine with y'all! You two are precious! :) Come to Texas and I will show you how a TRUE TEXAS BBQ...which could involve a lot of alcohol consumption...and about 5 pounds on your rear.
ReplyDeleteBackyard bbq without bbq sauce? Ah, I die, unless it's seasoned SO good that you don't need it which was probably your case here. :)
ReplyDeleteYou two are adorable!
that makeshift bbq grill looks amazing. Better than having to wait 12902327 hours while my boyfriend heats up our real grill...girl gets HUNNNNGRY
ReplyDeletelooks like you chicks had a blast..whenever wine is involved, you know its a good time!
xoxox
PS I thought the same thing about the blog comment thing. A post deleted all 28 comments except for 2. So then I looked pathetic.
Haha another fun post, you always make me smile girl! Great pics, seems like you had a wonderful time with that only friend and that's what matters ;)

i mean, she might be your only friend there... but she's like pretty cute, right? so that's good.
ReplyDeleteI love how many times you 'say' BBQ in this post!! and the conversation with yourself, pure brillance!! No BBQ sauce, seriously?!
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious! It can be tough trying to survive sans BBQ here... DEEP SIGH.
ReplyDeletewhat the crap is she using as a bbq?!
ReplyDeletenote that i say this judgmentally while not so secretly hoping you give me some instructions.
that sounds like a BBQ from where I grew up...vancouver, WA :) Glad you you had a good time with friends! (even though bbq sauce wasn't there.) And i love that last pic, i can tell you 2 lovelies have such fun together :)
ReplyDeleteno BBQ sauce and no BBQ restaurants?! How do they live?!! Well, i guess if they're used to it then it doesn't really matter. Either way, that's a sad life to live if there's no bbq sauce, haha. But an indoor bbq sounds like so much fun! I love that you brought magazines. :)
ReplyDeleteyou guys are so cute! I love this post!!
ReplyDeleteaw. look at you and your indoor bbq. and your buddy. cute! if you need more skype buddies, you let me know. holla
ReplyDeletetoo cute! looks like fun :)
ReplyDeleteI don't like bugs.
ReplyDeleteI don't like grass (it makes me itch)
I don't like outdoor, uncomfy furniture.
I guess what I'm saying is that I really like this British BBQ.
And hey one friend is better than none right?
CarissaExplainsItAll
ha! british people totally dont have bbqs. they dont know what ribs are! how could they possibly have bbqs. i made brisquet for the brits once. i had to track down a butcher and ask him NOT to throw out the right piece of meat.
ReplyDeleteheh. their bbqs are fun though. more of a .. make burgers on the wee metal thing you have there.
That looks so yummy!
ReplyDeleteAhah, the I think (too often) that I am also "one blog away from developing an emotional health problem."
ReplyDeletePhew! After reading they don't have Mexican food I was ready to carry out a rescue mission if this BBQ didn't go over well! Crisis averted!
ReplyDeletecute pictures!! :) looks like fun. i am frustrated at blogger too!!!! ugh.
ReplyDeleteYour shirt is really cute. I've always loved BBQ's...especially ones where steak is on the menu. So fun!
ReplyDeleteummm..countdown until we have our blate: 5 weeks.
No BBQ sauce? I don't know if I can get over how those words sound in that order. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat is such an adorable bbq. I'm glad you have at least 1 friend there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little BBQ!!... Looks like such a fun afternoon :)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry I only have one maaaaybe two good friends in South Africa... so basically I'm in the same boat.
And while South Africans are absolutely obsessed with BBQing, BBQ sauce is nowhere to be found (at least not the real stuff)... sigh.
xoxo

An indoor BBQ? Sounds like a great idea, since it's hailing in California in the middle of May :(
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't even like BBQ sauce, so I'd survive. Husband, on the other hand...
if wine is available i'm fine! :)
ReplyDeletelooked like a great indoor BBQ to me ... with or without BBQ sauce!
British BBQs look like fun!!!
ReplyDeleteNow I want to host an indoor BBQ myself :)
Oh, and I was so frustrated/sad when Blogger deleted and then restored my last post without any comments ;(
yeah but who the heck needs another friend when you've got Sophie???
ReplyDeleteAw, cute pics! An indoor BBQ sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteWhatevs. Blogger shutdown = my life shutdown.

ReplyDeletebut in my defense, piotr showed up at my door last night with a chocolate cake, so......ive been eating that.
Jenni.. tell Piotr to teach Dagan his ways. No joke.
ReplyDeleteAnd Megan.. our Cali countdown continues.. just add outside BBQ to the growing list of reasons why you can't wait to be back here.. Sophie.. you come too.
Really. The more the merrier.
How fun! Now that I think about it... I don't ever remember seeing bbq sauce over there either... try tesco and see.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great weekend!! Love your photos.
ReplyDeleteAn indoor bbq? With no sauce? I'm not sure how I feel about that. Of course, I'd love to come since it's you and Soph!!
ReplyDeletewow. seems like a fancy bbq
ReplyDeleteNo hordes of napkins or bbq sauce anywhere? Um, strange.
: )
You are right about the rain. And barbecue sauce! Hope you had fun though, and are enjoying your time here :) x
ReplyDeleteI think it is so cool that you and sophie are hanging out! it's cool when bloggers unite!
ReplyDeleteI think we all thought the same things the day blogger crashed....it could be made into a you tube video;p
ReplyDeleteDon't you love BBQ's?! Always a fun time!
<3
I thought it was just MY blog that was having issues...didn't realize it was everyones!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, everyone still loves you :)
I seriously sat around for 3 days, depressed about the loss of my comments. I am pathetic.
ReplyDeleteThis BBQ looks so fun. Except, I require bbq sauce with almost every meal. For reals.
You & Sophie are adorable. As always.
looks so fun! you are lucky you both live so close!
ReplyDelete#jealous ... that is me.
ReplyDeletewhen blogger shut down i thought i broke it. i had no idea what to do and how to fix it. i guess thats the life of an amateur blogger. :)
ReplyDeleteEvery tried HP with Smoked Flavor or something? I got it last here in the UK just to try and kinda loved it. Not the best, but it's better than nothing at all. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I love this post. That's a Michigan BBQ too.. interrupted by rain! haha

Wow. This is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it is you or watching Seinfield and seeing how GEORGE ended up working for the Yankees (so hilarious btw).
I have two jobs now. AND no life as a result so it is the little things that give me joy.
THank you for writing.
And I am sorry. I don't care where you are how dare someone have a BBQ without BBQ sauce. I can send you some. Maybe if all the brits taste it they will try to make their own. :(
♥cheche
It only shows that you had a great time :)
ReplyDeleteClaire M.
Hahaha You are so cute! My husband couldn't survive without BBQ sauce. I'm surprised it hasn't seeped into his blood stream yet! Lovely blog!
ReplyDelete-Heather from lifofapasseri.blogspot.com

ReplyDelete"Megan, you are ridiculous,
