Emily from Em=Me

Remember how I told you guys about my friend Emily?
The hot doctor?
Well she is here right now.
On this very blog.
I suggest you welcome her,
then be bffs with her..
because you know..
she saves lives and all..

****************

'ello readahs.
this is how i imagine someone "across the pond" would greet all of you.
i...am emily.
med student, newlywed, and blogger extraordinaire.
charmed, i'm sure.

if you're anything like me, you immediately fell in love with Megan after reading one of her hilarious comments on someone else's blog.
then you began stalking her blog. reading all her stories.
then you became twitter friends. then facebook friends. then gchat friends.
and now you're talking daily with her mother on the phone.
(just kidding. but only about the last part.)

anyway. bottom line is, i love this girl.
and i was tickled pink when she asked me to be a guest poster.
any friend of meg's is a friend of mine. so hi there, friends.

early on in my and megan's budding relationship, we excitedly discussed the possibility of a #blate.
i, in my eagerness--and with only a limited knowledge of california's vast coast line--suggested that we go camping on said meetup.

big mistake, friends.
huge.
she is definitely more of a cocktails-and-stilettos than beer-and-campfires kind of girl.
it was too much. too soon.
i thought our little friendship was over before it really even began.

but my theory is,
megan is just a little wary of camping.

so i'm going to do my best here to convince megan that the outdoors is our friend.
also, i'm convincing myself.
somehow, my husband roped me into a backpacking trip to Turkey and Greece.
we leave in 10 days.
i'm mildly terrified.

me, and my backpack. (this was in january. hence the sweater.)

okay. here we go...
first of all, it is important to remember that the outdoors contains wildlife.
and that wildlife are our friends.

look! wildlife! (ps. that's a mountain goat. fyi. i had to look it up. gimme a break. i'm from florida.)

sidenote: after a month in Montana, your wardrobe choices become horrifically tainted. wtf is up with my outfit there?
the shorts=worst decision ever.
i'm aware. just so you know.

it's important to get your face as close to the fish as possible after you catch it.

it's also important to act friendly to wildlife that may or may not be made of stone.

The outdoors can be enjoyable in the cold...

or in the hot.

communing with nature can also give you a huge sense of power

and it can also make you look like death

o.m.g. i cannot believe i am putting this pic on the interweb. only because you can't see my face. (the jesus figure is nick's friend.)

but the scenery is reeeally pretty

there's a tent. proof that actual camping took place.

and ultimately, all you wanna do is give it a biiiiig hug.

all in all, i'm a fan of the great outdoors.
after all, i picked him to host my wedding day
and he did me right.

so we're good.
hopefully this convinces you, meg, that the great outdoors really are great.
come camping with me.
it'll be fun.
and after, we can change into our stilettos and grab a drink, mmkay?

ta ta for now!

  2. make you look like death? or a death eater? because i definitely thought the jesus figure was imitating a death eater. a little disappointing to find out he's just your average joe jesus figure.

and "if you're anything like me, you immediately fell in love with Megan after reading one of her hilarious comments on someone else's blog" is genius. and so true.

and lastly, megan, i just ate, like 16 reese's peanut butter cups that came in the easter package my mom mailed me...thought of you! (i donno, seems like something you would do).

but maybe with you. you seem to do this right. i need your guidance.

  15. Your camping trips looks like sooo much fun! But I have to agree with Meg, even though I'm not a high heels girl, I don't like camping.

Give me a lodge, chalet, hotel room or anything in the wild and I'm happy, but sleeping in a tent...well lets say it's as bit scary.

(I will leave out reasons as not to discourage future camping trips further.)

And in South Africa, camping can get quite rough if there are baboons in the region :)

  16. Hey, Megan. Thanks for the comment on my blog, and thanks for following! :) I'm slowly getting sucked into the whole blogger world! To answer your question--I LOVED London!! I think was depressed for like a month after I got back to the States. But when it comes down to it, South GA is my home and I probably wouldn't want to live in London long-term.

  18. Love it! Totally agree. A mixture of some rugged outdoorsy stuff, and then fancy shmancy city stuff afterward. Don't forget S'mores. One of camping's biggest perks! xoxo
